      Thanks egret, you actually pointed to the exact problem: I am an idiot! I mistakenly opened a wrong map, and did not notice the extreme rpm range and extreme load range. I reverted to a basemap (by bobyspit, found here:  Triumph Spitfire 1300. Performance starter map. - Autosport Labs)  Map is also attached here. I stayed pretty much loyal to the map apart from reducing advance a bit at idle. So kind of a succes. Vaacum reading also a bit better, bit I might just go and purchase that kit you showed. It looked nice and good value. Certainly looks better than a plastic fuelfilter. Here is a video of the engine running on the more apropriate map (ahem) Thanks for all the help :-)   Next job is to clean up the wiring. I need to tighten a few witres up in the enginebay, and I also need to fit an electric oil pressure meter. The old mechanical one had a not so funny leak, so now I am going all electric. I will wait with refitting gloveboxes until it is in place. All good. Hopefully this will get me all the way to 10CR and back in the summer.  Cheers Nick IMG_5955 (6).mp4     Robbaiscmap (1).mjlj

      My BMW was a Jap import so I just use a free MPH app on my phone which sits in a cradle . Very effective .

      That was my thinking a separate rev limiter  for the pit lane. but one switch for pit and race would be good leave it with you …..😉

      Correct, Hamish!    Previously, I've kept up the car's MoT, insurance, classic registration etc, so that I could drive it on the road - or indeed to Le Mans! But the cumulative mods to improve performance have made it a unsuitable for the road anymore, so I've made it SORN, and an actual speedo isn't necessary.  So why labour to make 19th Century tech work?   Yes, a rev limiter would do - I have one!  but reprogramming it on the fly for pit stops wouldn't be on - maybe a separate one, with an on/off switch?  (Just like F1 - Tee Hee!) Or, I suppose, it would be possible to modify the RL so that a switch would toggle between "Race" and "Pit Lane", but I fear I'm not so HiTeck as that! John

      I guess your real need is pit speed limits John ? so you need to know it’ll work on the tracks you visit. True gps rather that the phone type system.   i guess you could rig up a push button rev limiter for the correct speed?
