Sprint95m Posted January 10 Posted January 10 Alternative brake servo for a Dolomite Sprint? I have been contacted by a fellow Sprint owner regarding Dolomite brake servos. These are unavailable new and good ones are scarce secondhand. For my Sprint I found a Land Rover Defender servo (on eBay) which has a different bulkhead spacing being much wider, this didn’t bother me, I just drilled new holes. I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions for a servo that doesn’t require redrilling the bulkhead? The BMC stud spacing needs to be 80mm and the overall servo casing diameter about 210mm. The Dolomite bulkhead is a four hole 120mm PCD. Thanks Ian

Sprint95m Posted Saturday at 07:32 PM Author Posted Saturday at 07:32 PM @RedRooster Thanks for this. A solution has been found I gather. He is going to get a reconditioned Dolomite 1850 brake servo from the Dolomite Club (they offer this as an outright sale). 1850s and Sprints use different servos (the latter has a higher boost ratio but I cannot tell the difference, standard brakes are pish on both ) and the latter is difficult to acquire because the part that fails most commonly is obsolete. Oddly, given how similar they are, 1850 servos vary rarely suffer this failure. So why I am using a Land Rover servo? At the time I purchased it the reconditioning of brake servos hadn't commenced. As an aside, two possible other options were identified, namely TR7 and TR5/6. The former is difficult to find apparently and the latter isn't very good so a lot of TR owners have converted to a Volvo 960 servo (said conversion is quite involved, though) thanks Ian
