    • It's Gromit Wallace is off catching Hutch
    • A lot of nice detail there. I looked it up and it's 1:12 scale so should be quite large and very detailed. Is Wallace the driver??
    • Reminds me, in the loft there's an A-Series supercharging kit i was building, need to do something with that. RR
    • The dash and electrical INSIDE the car in pictures looks to have been modified over the previous older models.  Did they update the Lucas electrics to something more modern at the same time? Or still the same POD stuff as on the Spitfires?
    • AFAIK, all the 1954 Manhattans were supercharged.  They also made a 1954 Kaiser "Special" which didn't have the supercharger.  They were built using leftover 1953 Kaiser Manhattan body shells, with the 1954 Manhattan front fenders, hood/bonnet, and tail lights. (And most of the interior.) The '53 didn't have the wrap around 3 section rear windscreen. Just the narrower centre glass.
    • The "widows peak", or as Kaiser called it, the "Darren Dip" after the main designer of the car, Howard "Dutch" Darrin.  They only made 4400 of them last year of production so the '54 is rareish. Those long tailights running along the top of the rear fenders was unique to the '54 model. They light up.
    • I haven't driven the Kaiser in a few years. Last started about 3 years ago but, needs a battery and I'm too cheap to buy one and have it sit there pretty much unused. (It's still the 6volt electrical system so it's a big Group 1 battery. Was slowly working on the electrical wiring. Not sure if they use the same in UK cars in the 50's but this is twisted/stranded wire, with rubber insulation on the wire, and woven cloth - colour coded - covering on the rubber. The rubber has totally dried out so every time I touch something the rubber goes to powder under the cloth covering leaving little insulation factor. If I keep it I'll have to fabricate a harness for it.  It's truly an orphan/rarity. Kaiser brought out the first brand new design cars right after the war. GM, Ford and Chrysler sold 1946 models that were Identical to their 1942 pre-war models. 1954 was the last year for Kaisers in Canada/US. Kaiser formed a partnership with the government of Argentina, moved all the tooling and stamping to Argentina in late 1954, and made the identical looking car as the Kaiser Carabela until 1962. Flathead Continental straight 6 with a McCullough Supercharger on it. 4 Speed Hydramatic Automatic transmission. (Cadillac.) Factory seat belts. (in 1954!) But it's a boat to drive and it stops on a dime within one city block if you really stand on the pedal.    The '78 Spitfire is solid, virtually no rust. Found it has been parked in a garage for 31 years before I bought it. I've replaced the clutch master and slave cylinders and bled the clutch. There was about a quarter inch of dark green "goo" in the bottom of the master cylinder reservoir when I got it. Brake fluid is dark. I haven't gotten to the brakes yet but I suspect new seals (kits) all around and a fluid flush before filling. Got the engine to run briefly with a shot of starting fluid in the throat of the carb. Needs a fuel pump. Bought an electric one that was supposed to be around 2psi but gas poured out of the Zenith carb when it's running. (And the mechanical fuel pump as I ran the hose from the electric pump to the input of the mechanical one. I suspect the diaphragm in the mechanical pump is toast.  Then got hold of a low pressure gauge and found the electric pump is putting out around 6 psi. Which could  be pushing fuel past the needle valve. So I need a regulator to get the pressure back down, or another mechanical pump. But then, I'm hearing so many complaints about the new pumps from the usual suspects putting out too much pressure and fuel leaks from the carb.... kind of a can't win situation.  And just in case, I picked up an overhaul kit for the Zenith-Stromberg CD150. (I've got twin SU's for it and a manifold but I want it running before I start modifying.  Most of the lights are out. Haven't determined if it's bulbs, wiring, switches or fuses yet.  The fibreboard cover for the transmission was in excellent shape (due to the low mileage?) so I painted it inside and out with several thinned automotive enamel for water/moisture proofing and completely covered the underside of it with 10mm thick "dynamat" type self adhesive foam with an aluminum foil like waterproof film on the exposed side. Hopefully sound and heat proofing better than the little baggies of rock wool that were stapled under there.  Can't do much out there until the weather improves. The drive shed is too "open" with gaps between boards and such, to try and heat it.
    • Echo Nick's comments on the Spitfires. Hopefully see the white one on the road at some point. The Kaiser is a monster  The Mk1 Golf was a cracking little car.
    • Sadly true of so many things  Still think you got a ringer
    • A35 van. Pale blue. Low mileage. Business livery. Comes with driver  Good runner. Bit of surface rust.... Good chromework and starts first time on the handle... Reregistered but tax free... Good interior... Plenty of room in the back. Good spare... A now unavailable Airfix anti-pesto van kit from 2008. Daughter managed to find this pretty much complete and remarkably cheap (collectors go for this stuff) and gave it to me as a present. A bit of fun.
