Does look pleasant.  The sky is blue here too...... but...... 2ºC.  Might have reached 5ºC around lunch time...... A the moment a T-shirt is something worn as a base under at least two other layers.

Day Twenty One

35 degrees, all the way across town and back in the un air conditioned van.  Luckily, I’d just been streamlined.

Branching out, Craig, ever been attracted by those 'wingsuits'?

Wingsuits first hit in 1999, when some boys from Eastern Europe did some design work and found a way to make them.  They can to the 99 World champs to kick off their marketing and “look how much fun there are!”  campaign.  As soon as my team mate and I got eliminated from the comp, I was straight into one.

They're pretty good fun, especially if you have a flock of others to play with, so I wanted one to take home.

They didn’t have any for sale, only demo units, and the wait time for manufacture was six months.

I employed a bit of Aussie ingenuity, and went to the pub with the company owner.  It’s no easy task drinking someone from the Slavic states into submission, but the next morning my wallet was lighter, I had traded away my last “Team Adrenaline Skysurf t-shirt, I had a whopping hangover, and an unobtainable wingsuit.

Still got a couple of them, but I haven’t jumped one for a few years.

The tech on them today is incredible.  I’m hoping to jump one of the new ones later this year.

Blimey….. not sure I’d twigged you did that too.

Watched a few Jeb Corliss videos over the years ……

Full-on nutter……:o

If he’s still around it’s not for want of trying…..

It did take 20 years off you (the makeover that is

That’s great you could get out and celebrate together.

60 family and friends in the Garden at Mum and Dad’s house.  Pretty good arvo - just hoping it doesn’t turn into a super spreader…

Snacking on some Strawberries and raspberries after a 90 minute ride.  I’m not sure what’s happened to me…

It’s having all that hair removed that’s done it:rolleyes:.

Your mum does not look old enough to be 80!

Stopped at a typical inner city Melbourne intersection on a late evening trip to the city office - I’ll leave it to Hamish to explain what the little white symbol above the red light means.

Didnt realise you still had electric trams, I assume thats what the overhead cables are for.
Nice way to charge you electric car while waiting for the lights to change ;)

Quite curious. Probably ought to know having driven many miles in Oz…. Though mainly out of town and never Melbourne. Some Perth (ok) and some Sydney. Sydney was no fun at all, mainly because multi lane intersections are very high stress when you have no idea where you are going….. and signage no help at all. Watching for planes and where they were coming up from/ going down to was more helpful that signage when looking for the airport! This was over 25 years ago so maybe it’s better now (sat nav now at least)

It s a long time since I drive my ‘73 ford falcon around Melbourne ( 89/90 ish) and the tram turn lights were not that modern.
I think I’m right in remembering that all traffic turning right at junctions that have tram lines have to wait on the left before turning ( in front of the traffic held on their red light)  to keep the tram lines clear .

used the trams a lot from the bell street area near coburg.
and worked in port Melbourne for Red Tulip ( Allstate’s confectionary)  it was a few years after Chernobyl but port health still ran a Geiger counter  through containers from Switzerland toblerone etc.

very fond memories of Oz

The infamous Melbourne Hook Turn.  Confusing visitors since the early 70’s.

A little love and attention for the daily driver.

Hmm, reckon I’d want to be looking where I was going….. wouldn’t want the earth sneaking up behind me at 200mph……

I did well over 1000 skydives filming my old skysurf teammate without seeing an altimeter, or knowing where the earth was.  There’s an internal clock that you develop over time, and there’s also a magic bit of kit called an audible altimeter that plays different tones and alarms to let you know if and when the big round thing is sneaking up on you.

Someone thought he could get around his 55 minute ride before the incoming thunderstorm hit.  Someone was wrong by 6 kms.  Very very wet kinda wrong.
