RedRooster
Refuelled along the way, we we're on the patio so could hear a lot of comments from people arriving and my dodgy parking right by the door. 'C' est bas ',' Quelle une belle voiture '...which for those of you that don't speak French means' that's the dog's nuts but he does have short legs'. Only problem today was the idle speed increasing, turns out that the carb linkage return spring had stretched a few coils, maybe too much WOT changed that for another one I had knocking about.

JohnD
I'm sorry to have to post this, but I really need to vent it, else I shall.burst with anger. Earlier this evening on Club Triumph, a young lad posted that he was looking for a wreck to work on, hoping that by the time it was restored he would have a driving licence. He's 14. I welcomed him, told him he'd made a good choice, suggested he attend local club meets, CT & TSSC, and mentioned the TSSC Youth Loan Scheme. Then, a member posted that "mentioning another club was bad form" and must have reported my post to the mods ,WHO DELETED MY POST!!! What a tragedy, youthful enthusiasm greeted by selfish parochialism and internecine strife. Poor Lucas, he'd do better to find a Ford Escort to work on. Nick Jones
I think you should take that up with the forum mods John and demand an explanation! I don’t think that is the Club Triumph way.

I don’t think that is the Club Triumph way. It certainly isn't the CT way And I am struggling to find out who carried out the "moderation". I am not going to intervene with that post until I hear from whoever that was. But demanding stuff doesn't help, a reasoned request (and response) achieves far more. I have asked John to reconsider his respose on the CT forum and edit it. But I now realise that just like this and other forums, he won't be able to edit his post as he is not a CT member. But I am still waiting for him to reply to my contact as I can edit it for him. So please all, do not jump to conclusions just yet.
Nick Jones
Thanks Clive. Note that Lucas has two threads running. I’ve commented on the one John replied to (which you may have seen) and out a more constructive reply on the other one. Can’t be scaring the young-uns off!! Ta Now "fixed" and a big fuss caused by auto moderation. A lot of time/energy/grief could have been saved by asking the right questions of the moderators rather than jumping to conclusions. Bit of a life lesson for all of us.
JohnD
Thank you, Clive. "asking the right questions of the moderators"? And how, pray, do you 'ask questions of a moderator'? You are the first moderator I've met who has offered even the ghost of an apology, which desrves respect. Explaining that the CT board had a setting which "had got left at hiding posts with one single report", so I must comclude that my original subversive post mentioning TSSC was reported. So, having explained this to me, I hope that the person who took objection to the mention of another club for Triumph fans on the Holy CT board will have it explained to them that such an attitude "is not the CT way". OK. Sound the all clear! John Edited April 15 by JohnD
Nick Jones
That all looks good now Clive. Well done! Not sure I understand about the auto-moderate (one report -or whatever it’s set to- causes a post to be hidden pending human intervention?) Did you add the link to Chris’s Spit thread? If so, many thanks - I could not make the CT forum accept a link - is that a settings thing too? Or technology problems my end?

There are settings in Invision, and if not set up may not be easy to find? But it is in members/content moderation. We have a few rules set up, but now tweaked so it takes a few people to report an issue before it is hidden. That scenario is usually a spammer, or something that needs to be looked at ASAP. As to not being able to post links, John posted one and he isn't a member, so no idea what is causing the issue. I just C+P. 1 hour ago, JohnD said: Thank you, Clive. There is a list of moderators on the forum (not website) homepage. https://www.clubtriumph.co.uk/forums/ And of course, you know I have that millstone around my neck. mpbarrett
Strange attitude. The Cambridge area has joint TSSC and CT meeting. We don't mind who comes along certainly includes owners from the TR reg and 2000 clubs. Mostly triumphs but sometimes a Rolls, 205GTI, Honda 2000 and a few mx5's. All are welcome and it makes a nice change to see something that's not a Triumph!

Escadrille Ecosse
@JohnD to avoid sidetracking Egret's thread to answer your question... "An aside: When I offered advice to egret, above, I tried to attract his attention by addressing him with "@egret", because when others do this the characters appear in the post in a blue cartouche, AND they get a 'notification', like that when someone quotes you. But it didn't work! How is this done, please?" Type @ and then start typing the name of the person you want to highlight and you will get a drop down list of individuals whose address starts with those letters. Do not put in any other characters, like the comma at the end of the name, or any spaces. If necessary wait until the dropdown appears so you can select the right recipient. Escadrille Ecosse
Well today I had cause to open the non-recycling bin. Jesus wept, the smell.... Apparently my wife had found a dead rat at the back of the garden (!) so she put it in a plastic bag and dumped the thing in the bin. Unfortunately she failed to tie the bag closed and said rat it now pretty ripe. Another two weeks before that bin gets emptied. I suspect the whole street will be smelling it by then. 1
