Nick Jones
After about 5 years looking we've finally found a larger house with more ground and a big double garage in a nice location and at a price we can (almost) afford. The vendor then called our bluff by accepting our offer....... seems we might be moving then . The good news: Room for more toys (even big man-toys) Lawn tractor included Not so good news: No money left for toys Lawn tractor damn well needed! We've been in the same house for 24 years (more than 1/2 my life) and sorting it out is going be a bitch. Everybody wants big chunks of money - especially the damn thieving government! Going to miss the old place too. Only place I've ever stayed more than a couple of years (apart from a 7 year stretch in boarding school which really doesn't count!) GT6Steve
Sounds pretty exciting. How far are you moving? I can't even imagine shifting house. Actually shifting house would be easy, moving garage would be daunting
CHRIS211083
On to better things Nick. Well done. Where abouts are you moving to??? Chris. P.s. On a side note Nick there is a guy after a ECU tune for a 2500 triumph engine in the 2500 section of CT. He was after you.
Nick Jones
Only going about 5 miles. Shifting the garage will be a major pain, though I don't have any heavy machine tools. The work bench needs about 4 people to move it though..... Cheers Nick
pomwah
Sorry Nick, seven years in boarding school does count, just so happens that that is the longest I've ever "lived" in one place. I've moved so often I still have things in packing crates from three and four moves ago. The next house I buy is going to be the last, I hope. Good luck, use it as a good reason to de-clutter. GT6MK3
My last move was 1023 meters, but it was after 14 years in the old house. Never quite figured out why our old landlord booted us - house sat empty for almost 2 years, and is now full of unruly uni students. Ugly thing to have to do, but it did make me take note of a slightly dusty thing in the corner of the garage I'd been ignoring for quite a while... Can be good thing, that fearful thing called change. I (over)filled a 6 meter 3 tonne skip with stuff I seriously didn't need when we moved. Best of luck Nick. Be absolutely ruthless throwing out anything not Garage or Triumph related! C.
Martin
Moving the house Then it would be transparent to SWMBO how many crappy parts assorted valuable goodies are distributed in garage, cellar, roof, garden shed, ..... oh no. Thinking only about gearboxes, at least two T9, 3 Spitfire, two GT6 D-OD ... all on the roof (so out of sight ). And my son followed this attitude already with Mini parts This could entail serious discussions With consequences   Cheers Martin

TIMSGT6 X 5
Congrats! At least you will get a lot of things done, nothing like the novelty and enthusiasm a new abode will bring. And a 2 car garage is a bonus, somehow they still get cluttered and overfilled too easily. Space becomes a relative thing and I often forget how much I have compared to other countries, 2 separate properties ,one over 7 acres, a main residence of 3500 Sq Ft, a workshop of 800 Sq FT and about 2 acres of grass to mow. I think I'm going the other way now, downsizing.
Nick Jones
Something I will miss when we move is the summer sunsets, as we have a very open outlook to the WNW. Just a few pics captured in the last couple of weeks Big sky Bush fire Skyline (about 6 miles away) Devil eye (same skyline but more zoom) Big Sky 2 Silhouette Nick

Nick Jones
Haven't moved yet....... bloody lawyers! We have had to do all the chasing - nothing pro-active from them at all. Lost patience on Friday (which was the original planned completion date) having heard nothing from the lawyer. We'd known it wasn't going to happen then for some time as we've been keeping in touch with the seller, but think I ought to heard it from the the man "managing" the deal. Sent a short, but blunt email. Had a grovelly phone call 10 minutes later.......... and a meeting today, which revealed that there is a basic title matter unresolved (after more than 2 months!) and that they had completely overlooked the fact the the house was underpinned 22 years ago, even though it is a matter of public record and can be found on the local council website in two minutes, for free. If that buggers things up at this stage, he's in for a major kicking! The conveyancing system seems to be a shambles - and obviously no real interest in clearing it up as it all means more money for the interested parties. Bah! pomwah
Bad luck there Nick. Settlement date, your completion date I guess, is written into Oz contracts, if either party hasn't done everything they need to by then, too bad. I've never had any problems buying or selling a house, I've used solicitors, but since they were allowed, I've stuck to specialist conveyancing firms when buying. I've done my own conveyancing when selling, it's a straightforward process here. Good luck, hope you get to use your new shed soon. Nick Jones
Contracts exchanged this afternoon after a fairly fraught 24 hours. I shall be claiming a partial refund for less than professional service! Next Wednesday will be a VERY expensive day. It's like money, but with more zeros..... The deposit paid today was more than this house cost in 1991...... Nick
JohnD
Nick, Lie back, close your eyes - and breaaaaaaaaaaaaaaathe out. And in again, slowly. Do it again, pressing your shoulders down towards your feet as you breathe out. Concentrate on your breathing, just your breathing, for two or three minutes. No jokes, I'm serious. Moving house is acknowledged to be up there in stress with the death of a close family member. Take a moment to relax during your day and a simple relaxation exercise will help. And enjoy the new house! Bests, John
Nick Jones
Thanks John! Sales meeting this morning was an unwanted stress contributor - we got a 10 minute bollocking for being 20% above target. Most inspiring and motivational - NOT! Pity I'm going to be paying a mortgage again (briefly hopefully), so I had to hold my tongue..... that was the stressful bit Cheers Nick
JohnD
Management, eh? I used to work with a surgeon who was so quick that lists finished significantly early. Yes, he was safe too! He would get regular notes from management for "under-utilization" of his session. That there weren't enough beds to get any more patients in for the list wasn't a factor, apparently. Nick Jones
Got a new (to me) house now...... that was an expensive day - like money, but with more zeros . Still living in the old one, but moving over the weekend. May be missing for a while as won't have internet in the new place for about a week though it is meant to still work here....... We jest about previous owners and dodgy wiring etc on cars........ But the scope on houses is just vast in comparison - and this looks like it's going to be a rich vein of DIY horrors. Some of the wiring additions are just..... wah! I've removed a couple this evening that look like they've been waiting to kill someone for a while. I suspect there are more. Haven't looked too hard at the plumbing yet, but I have concerns...... Nick

Spit131
First thing to do if needed , re-wire , re-plumb , but you know all that . Hope it is not that drastic though Nick . Nice to be in a new home . Your home . Best wishes . M
Nick Jones
Thanks My usual "event" co-driver is an electrician. I've already a booked an appointment! I hope to avoid a full rewire 'cause it makes such a mess of everything. What I want to be doing is sorting the garage out (which has it share of wiring issues!) but that's a way down the queue I fear...... Nick
pomwah
Whoo-hoo! Enjoy! Off to the auction tomorrow. You never know, I might be planning a move to my own shed/garage tomorrow evening. SWMBO can take care of the house.
