hardhatharry
My fuel tank blanking vent disintegrated when I took the tank out and is no longer available. Is this just a bit of fuel pipe blanked off? Will aruldite do to blank some fuel pipe off as a substitute?
zetecspit
Not sure if replacements are available, and if they are what quality (ie hopefully last more than 6 months)But I would use a short length of r9 fuel hose, and push a short tight-fitting bolt in the end. yorkshire_spam
I had a similar problem back in 2014: I managed to find an appropriately sized blanking plug to replace it, but a short section of fuel hose with a bolt in would do just as well. The replacement was one of these I think: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Silicone-Hose-End-Blanking-Caps-Plugs-Pipe-Finisher-Bung-Rubber-Any-Colour/293459867580?_trkparms=ispr%3D1&hash=item44539237bc:m:mD5dzqAxAY_UWXsGdWWOZgQ&enc=AQAEAAACUBPxNw%2BVj6nta7CKEs3N0qVbC0M4zY%2B4tZfgHyY9CJ6pCLE9eIp5ptYrLal52XkTEOX3AEw5jHgzpOHgPzVuH6SQxvD7ZiWCZ1W4YAwE4QjxpuH7RlPwVygeZ0oIMrMbini6EdXn9szue5fZ7oVr0fWGiQG0KzevKaw0BIiXdRG86PEPLognvJR201%2FyuyHWrcm%2BCFlPJRZrEBbSn9c3hfP8DyP0DA9hwozUyJq%2FTkRWoh3E19UVUDo9uE2O9Yw0HVYnhwnJ7J2E5GA4JSugrCUh8jBeVhj5i8Yl3iUOIQbUozyCWH7nKY%2BqmYCzVIeBvlQUPNKhRvQV3yBngYu1M5qZ0QmPkNRYqbv200mX2DA2qkAaQ32zEMTacUDvc8MLko8SV5aOIRPgQDVjPSZRhaYUua6NL3Wb1Ez8Ba3naPW9uYWZbYcujm5Idfe66oLh8ZogTVSUe2Mxezg0F3HydmtQCWhX85wQTxFpbpmnksSgwqASmjKDiPElWw%2BNGKna79u7XYyZN%2FM17CiAPxhTkDKtX73mQX6JtAfAe%2FP10DZCVUBoCQk1sNdghTS771GinE98nx72%2F00cVjQHUe1GO3vir0O7m6YXiYGimjE%2FctbOkjxdlamh%2F%2BgJam1veWbxTVTezuFQf0CqDxIncvVJ%2Bi7qzLOFi5q%2FkcrGpbmCMzXiXUfqRPeFhoaZ6mQ7AJF6AUJKJW6brrPsljpuFwbIEVerZQeLYR9jG34Q6NHYtKhgzyuHocv8DeiYO6IVCyHPLCbcfibDbPzU3BowS2aCyfQ%3D&checksum=293459867580b9c6c41a8cc14a40bf2250f09c1a2e51

I ask as silicone doesn't like petrol and is fluro-lined (or should be) when exposed to petrol vapour. Certainly applies when using to connect throttle bodies to manifolds etc. (A friend lost a fuel pump after he stupidly fitted silicone hose between tank and pump on his newly acquired Cossie. We tried to clear the pump of the crud but it never did work again. Expensive mistake)

I'd use a short length of decent quality fuel hose (Cohline 2240 is my current fave) with a blanking rod (5/16" bolt shank?) in it.

Radioactive Man
Just prized the crumbling mess off. Pipe measures 8mm so 5/16 in old money. The old one just looks like a plastic cap. Not really what I was expecting.
Radioactive Man
Reckon a 8mm stop end plumbing fitting will do the job.
rogerguzzi
Hello All I ran pipe down and out the rear of the boot floor then changed the rubber seal to non vented type Roger
rogerguzzi
Hello All It was probably because USA ones had to vent through what ever it was ? but UK just blanked it off and vented the cap and let the fumes out! Roger
