Hamish Posted May 8, 2024 Posted May 8, 2024 At last I can look forward to the first event of the season for me. the short but challenging Shelsley hill on the 1st of June. they must be very packed as they have put the triumph class on the spectator road (?) rather than the paddock. it has been a slow and late start for me , that I haven’t got excited about. Plans for fibreglass panels but that was out the window as they were so far off from fitting. plans for and roll bar tube bought for under dash hoop and door bars but pipe bender and welder is too busy with rally car prep. ( fingers crossed I don’t need it) but tonight the final regs arrived so I now have my race number. so now I can really prepare so is it tyre checks, flooding carbs check, steering, brakes? nope it’s numbers on But on the day, if it’s warm and dry I will try and beat my PB of 38.21. some fast cars and drivers in the class so really not expecting a class podium. possibly points on handicap! think order of Steve small len olds larry j-c me is Martin Dyson known on sideways ? 1

Steve 13-60 Posted May 9, 2024 Posted May 9, 2024 Hi Hamish, wanted for some time to visit Shelshley, but what's it like for spectatoring? I realise it's just a point and squirt eventually, just wondered if you get to see much. Toss up at the mo between watching you or John D at Silverstone....but can always watch John on the 23rd instead.

But it’s steep to walk. If the weather is good it’s brill. full access to the paddock. this chap just doesn’t get his track time moneys worth where as this old boy in his old car does and you can see where people like to watch you'd be very welcome. And we have a fair variety of triumphs 2
JohnD Posted May 10, 2024 Posted May 10, 2024 Good luck, Hamish! Stay on the black stuff! May we hope for your own video of this climb?
Steve 13-60 Posted May 13, 2024 Posted May 13, 2024 Morning Hamisg, hoping to drive down on the Friday night, staying in the campervan so can make a full day of it. Google maps shows campervans on the field at the side, but the official website doesn't mention being able to stay there. So how/where do I find out where to stay? Cheers, Steve
Hamish Posted May 13, 2024 Author Posted May 13, 2024 Steve i think that competitors can campervan in the field opposite it’s a car trailer van parking area as the paddock is competitive cars only - yet the triumphs can’t even fit in it apoears may be an email to info@shelsleywalsh.com H
Steve 13-60 Posted May 27, 2024 Posted May 27, 2024 Tickets booked for Saturday and for staying over Friday night. Looking forward to my first hill climb meet.
Hamish Posted May 27, 2024 Author Posted May 27, 2024 Great stuff come and say hello, love to have a chat .They have put us in a strange place for a paddock set up, I guess they are very busy over the weekend I have been very lazy this year prep wise and stems from the fact that this will be my first event of the year ( normally done a few by now) but this weekend has seen me fit “racing” gaskets to my webers together with Viton tipped 200 needle valves to try and stop the overflow. i have gapped the plugs and points and added fresh V power fuel. i collect my trailer from storage and load up on Friday to head off Saturday. i also have Curborough on Sunday but yet to receive finals thus inevitable videos will follow . 01-06-24 Overflow paddock.pdfBest of British Interclub Entry List.pdf

Hamish Posted May 30, 2024 Author Posted May 30, 2024 Going to be a busy weekend our inter club entry list is above but I’ve just added the national championship list here which includes the British hill climb championship the elite that the organisers focus on could a record breaking day looking at the weather I’ve decided to do 7/10ths as I don’t want to embarrass them Best of British Entry List - National.pdf 1

Always busy whenever there is a National entry. Always impressive too, the only downside being the run-offs which can rather monopolise things. Regardless, the weather is looking excellent. Frustrating for me as I am in the velodrome all weekend for the Scottish Youth and Junior Track Champs and will therefore miss the sunshine. So have a great weekend Hamish. Looking forward to the race report 1
Hamish Posted June 2, 2024 Author Posted June 2, 2024 (edited) Well what can I say just as I set off for Curborough. Shelsley was a looong day but great weather and competition. too many people got giddy during practice to bring the red flags out. all the TRiumphs did well though I had a dreadful miss fire on the first practice run that made me fearful for a frustrating day but a change of plugs sorted that. just 5 of us competing as Larry had gearbox problems so withdrew before the event. we made it on to hill climb tv on you tube I found us at about 22mins and starts with martins lovely GT6 not even the race tr7V8 could get close to len old Tr4 on SLICKS for gods sake!! think I was 3rd on track and 2nd on handicap. nice that forum member Steve came to say hello more during the week hopefully with videos soon H Edited June 3, 2024 by Hamish 2 1
