Hello Roger That's a road coming down off the Long Mynd and tests your brakes for sure We had just been to the Glider station for Breakfast recommended and some good views from up there! Roger ps about 1 in3 to 1 in 5 and narrow! -
Last week as I made my way to the local recycling centre I encountered a friend with a broken down three wheeled push bike, naturally I stopped to see if I could assist. The front tyre had come off the rim... Then we were joined by another friend who stopped as he had seen me. Between the three of us we managed to effect a limp home repair. My friend has a trike because (after working in the building industry) he can no longer manage a bicycle. Last winter he suffered a similar breakdown out in the country during somewhat different weather to what we have just now...as they passed several drivers beeped their car horns but not one stopped to offer assistance Ian

Might have been made for it! Bring it to Classic Le Mans? Might have been made for that too, even if it's not a 1928 model!

Well Hamish settles it, the red 4.11 is going back in and i'll ponder what to do with the other one, and move onto electrics. The red diff is definitely 4 and a small amount, I re checked it with Nick's method. And it's got 3/8" drive flange bolt holes, so presumably someone deliberately built it that ratio. Happily it means the original speedo should be vaguely accurate, if it's not buggered like they often are. The 'spare' 3.89 diff is now getting stuck when I turn it, so definitely isn't going anywhere for a while. Pesky heavy awkward thing... -
I heard about these when I first looked at doing the hs6's, went for the far easier option of elongating the carb mounting holes. Never had an issue before but this is a new manifold, ill have a good route, there probably is a leak, along with bad timing and a hive of other issues

I shall be investigating shortly. I'll set the carb mixtures back to a starting point, should be all the way up then 2 turns down if I recall. Definitely choke on both yes. I've got a nice big list to go through, I'll statically time too, although I have an electronic module I remembered it can be done, so that will help. Oh absolutely, one crate of doom bar chilled and ready in the fridge should make me highly productive

Back from a weekend away and looked over the Alvis. knowns to deal with elec fan thermostat it has a temporary manual switch. But I can’t see a relay anywhere. I guess it should have one electrically speaking. If not historically. lights didn’t work on main beam. The big ones ! and one of the side light was a faint glimmer. I hate - read don’t understand electrics so I struggle. but a new bulb fixed the side light issue. The old bulb looked silvered inside. And the big headlights was an earth issue. Looks like it should earth via the chrome cross tube the the lights clamps were fully painted so no earth. Paint removed and some copper wire to increase the connection and the clamping forces sorted that. I’m thinking the variable thermostat is my fan issue for another day. Bit of a polish to get transit dust off and it could be test drive evening

Are the carbs held onto TT adapters or a 4 stud fastening? Major air leak problem with the former, Andrew Turner sells modded inlet manifold's so that one can loose the TT adapters...lots of air leaks unless covered in hylomar.
