rogerguzzi Posted April 6, 2023 Posted April 6, 2023 Hello All I took Spitty for her MOT and they did an emissions test and here are the results CO 2.59 pass is max 4.50 HC 246 pass is max 1200 So I assume these results are good? and I have leaned the fuel table in the idle position today as the tick over was a bit high so could be even lower now Roger ps now I have removed the steering lock I thought perhaps I should use a crook lock or a steering wheel one I have both. Then I thought I fitted a switch to cut the fuel pump on the old set up so I thought I could do the same on the EFI pump? So I was about to take out the glove box to see the relay. Then I thought I would test it just in case (you are ahead of me now!) So sure enough I had wired it up when fitting the EFI so I have a anti thief thingy push the button off and she cranks over just the same but does not fire so I think that will do me and saves carrying more stuff in the boot(full enough when we go to Spain)
Nick Jones Posted April 6, 2023 Posted April 6, 2023 Numbers are ok but not spectacular. Slightly lumpy cam does not help this. My old engine (standard cam) did give pretty decent numbers. The current one has not been formally measured, but I suspect does not. Too much cam. Though the ITBs may have helped.
rogerguzzi Posted April 6, 2023 Author Posted April 6, 2023 Hello Nick The Tick over was wandering up and down a bit but I think I have got it a bit better now by leaning off about 4 cells and tickover and tweaking the idle air setting a touch it is about 950ish Not sure it wants to go lower with the fast road cam and ITB's and high ish compression all on 95 E10!! Roger
Escadrille Ecosse Posted April 6, 2023 Posted April 6, 2023 (edited) Some thoughts on the subject 1. big cams will not give spectacular idle numbers. 2. you don't drive the car on idle (not a hotted up small Triumph anyway) 3. 'economy' at idle is pretty much irrelevant as you're using so little fuel 4. you don't fit a big cam because you want good idle numbers 5. a decent stable idle that gives a nice pickup is infinitely more important than emissions numbers 6. a pass is a pass Edited April 6, 2023 by Escadrille Ecosse
Nick Jones Posted April 6, 2023 Posted April 6, 2023 ^^^^ This Anyway, your mpg figures are significantly better than adequate, so you are definitely ahead on points

rogerguzzi Posted April 7, 2023 Author Posted April 7, 2023 Hello All A bit more tinkering today! I thought I would have a look inside the air box to see if it needed a clean! Well a pleasant suprise I could almost eat my dinner from in there no dirt, dead flies etc so the single K&N down at the front must be doing its job and hopefully picking up cooler air? My MPG figures went down after the Lambada fail last year and a re autotune and turned the Authority down? I have since adjusted the middle of the fuel table between the old numbers and the new ones and it seems a bit better(the trouble is when we go out on Wednesdays we are with TR6's and TR4 and I have to show them what Spitty can do and still get good MPG compared to them So the table seems pretty good now but I like to tinker(it's not even about the money?) Nick said not to much authority in case Lambda fails but I was thinking now it seems quite good why not go out with it turned off and see what the numbers are and if liveable why not give it more authority to aim at the 14.7 to 15 mark? Another question for you clever lot! When the Lambda went down this Numpty managed to buy one that was a slighly different number(I was going by price and thought I had ordered the same?) So does anyone know the differences? (no luck on Tinterweb!) The one that gave good results and came with the gauge is 0 258 017 025 the one now fitted is 0 258 017 099 I also have a 0 258 017 119(came with old gauge) Bosch site just gives specs for the 025? Roger
rogerguzzi Posted April 7, 2023 Author Posted April 7, 2023 Hello All This is all I can find? Lambda_Sensor_LSU_4.9_Datasheet (bosch-motorsport.com) Roger ps not that I understand most of it!
