CHRIS211083
I would recommend keeping the heater. They may take a little more work to get plumbed in but it will make the car more usable. If you get caught out in the cold then you will really appreciate it. I've bought a new style heater from here: http://www.t7design.co.uk/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=65 They are more compact and are rated for more heat and apparently a stronger blower. We will see if this is true very very soon. Chris

martinholmesuk
It runs! Sort of.... No sensors connected. Only the MS ECU and a fuel pump. Surprised it started. Next week I will sort out the sensors. Whoooo Hoooo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hSll8hAo3TY Also all my speedhut gauges came. Made up a center panel for some other guages. <center> <a href="http://s2.photobucket.com/albums/y33/volvoforum/?action=view¤t=2012-12-17215239.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y33/volvoforum/2012-12-17215239.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a><br/><br/> <a href="http://s2.photobucket.com/albums/y33/volvoforum/?action=view¤t=2012-12-17215511.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y33/volvoforum/2012-12-17215511.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a> <br/><br/> </center>

martinholmesuk
More done. Now MegaSquirt starts and runs the car. Having a vac issue but that's because it's a single throttle pre supercharger setup. That needs hard pipes which are on order. Common issue on SC cars with this setup but I do not want dual throttles as I have no space and there ugly. Waiting on the alloy fuel tank. I had the 2nd part of the dash made up :-) Next is to have the tranny cover made up and tidy the loom and connect the gauges, :-)
pomwah
Just a slight vacuum problem then!
martinholmesuk
I have changed to hard pipes. No more vac issue. Stripped the loom right back. Engine runs. :-)

CHRIS211083
I looked at turbocharging the zetec se but the 175bhp you can get with mild tuning seemed enough. Also the Zetec se has 11-1 comp ratio so low comp pistons or a decomp plate are needed. What hp does the mazda lump make stock and what are you after hp wise? Chris. martinholmesuk
115 stock, I would say this is easy 220 with that turbo if not more. TBH not fussed about the power I just like having a stupid big turbo bolted on. Looks cool. The car is my toy. I have a upgraded Volvo 940 turbo for daily. pomwah
Certainly looks like a big turbo!

Nick Jones
Isn't it more normal for the turbo to be smaller than the engine? Time to buy shares in diff suppliers....... Nick
CHRIS211083
Interesting project, thought you would have driven it more before taking it back apart again. At 115 it was double the original hp, at 220 it will be four times the original hp. It will be fast but will need a stable diet of diff's. I think the power will be more than you will use but I suppose it's nice to have it there every now and again just to scare the crap out of yourself. It will make you feel alive and give your heart a work out. Whats the extra cost in this conversion??? The Zetec se can stretch to 220 in N/a race versions but I expect the power to be quite peaky and a couple of grand up on what I've already paid to get over 200bhp. By the time all the little bits are bought for the turbo it will probably be near 2 grand I would have thought. There is a 350bhp zetec se turbo on one of the forums, apparently its super scary!!!! The guy has apparently turned the boost down now and has 230bhp as the 350 was too mental for the chassis etc. Keep up the good work and I look forward to hearing a very cool woosh!!! from a blow of valve. Ha Ha Chris.
martinholmesuk
Hi, Orange! It's red really but for some reason that night everything came out orange looking. Cost of going turbo? Manifold about £130 + turbo £200 + down pipe and fab £150. Wasted cash on 2nd hand sump being bead blasted and oil return fitted another £90ish. I ended up tapping the original sump instead. The company who modded the inlet and sump/some alloy pipes took forever. I would not use them again as I had to chase all the time however the work was outstanding. Zetec turbo sounds fun! Do you have a link to his build? Regarding diff. I will be going quaife at some point. I could look at the Scooby upgrade and whole new rear but honestly I hardly drive this car. My Volvo 940 turbo with 15g turbo upgrade is for sale if anyone wants it.... > http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261449940817?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649 I got myself a Mercedes w210 and rust free example at that.... Going to run on veg!
CHRIS211083
There are a bunch of part builds threads on different websites. There is a complete one but I cant find it. However if you type zetec se turbo or shawspeed turbo into youtube a white lotus 7 type car will pop up. Thats it. Chris.
