Well, there you go. Wasn't aware of that. Don't disbelieve him, they obviously have a far greater sample number than me although had a few of the OEM hubs through my hands over the years and never had any issues myself. I wonder if part of the problem was down to non-Triumphs using these hubs, Lotus/Caterham 7s, Elite, Elan, along with numerous other specialist and kit cars Ginetta, Marcos, etc. -
I’m aware of these in the head for our TRs and to close off a water way. not a feature on the TR four pot.

Well, fingers crossed I have a SH hub sourced from a CT forum member who has a few in his garage. He offered me two if I wanted, however I shall stick with taking one. If I encounter more issues then alloy hubs it will be! (He also offered me the option to pick it up, I tactfully declined as he is near Salisbury 🤣 By the time I paid for fuel there and back I'd have saved money buying the alloy hubs!) In other news, the drill bits and taps I ordered for the wheel nuts arrived. Some careful drilling and tapping later (with copious amounts tapping fluid, plus plenty cleaning out) I managed to extend the hole in the nut to nearly 34mm, tapped to bottom. Threaded onto a stud, and success! I reckon that'll clamp the wheel nicely. -

Here's a wee update from CT on this subject from Dave at Canley's: Must confess I haven't come across issues with inner bearing race, though I certainly don't disbelieve him! -
We will get the car running with this track system and then look at a road going version which can be swapped in/out .

g The TRiumph six has this plug in the block, just above the oil filter housing. Spares are available, as a stick of four threaded plugs, Part PU1404. Screw one in, break off the stick and then use a hammer to peen over the outer end into the surface of the block. Why? The drilling goes into the oil gallery but what was it for? Why use this apparent bodgery, when all the other access points to the gallery are sealed with set screws? "Asking for a friend" as they say, 'cos I don't know! JOhn
