This morning I played with the overdrive solenoid. Stage 1 involved fettling an old whitworth spanner (donated by Alan OTU (RIP) some time back - thanks mate, you are not forgotten!) to 1”. Access was tight but possible. Circlip came out without a major battle but the plug it retained was happy where it was. Self tapper in the hole in the end persuaded it. The shuttle itself though was determined to stay put. Really not surprised it was sticking. I could move it a bit by poking small screwdrivers through the feed holes, but the o-rings were clearly hanging up in the body. Was beginning to despair, then had a lightbulb moment heatshrink tube….. took a couple of goes to develop the process to get enough hold, but out it came….. All black and sticky and the o-rings very flat and hard. Hooshed out the body with brake cleaner (the bobbin clacks now!) and polished the shuttle with chrome cleaner. Just need the repair kit now, which is ordered. -
This is true, if it had leaked it all out, id have had nothing come out when I took the fill plug off. Typical ill chuck it all back together.

That’s the rules……. Perhaps it just barfed out the excess and now it’s happy. -
Well, one problem solved, another disappeared. All electrical issues solved! Box. Well it has a ghost leak. Drove the car with the tunnel off, my god the heat, and is a bit sketchy watching the road. Not a drip. Let it cool overnight, started, warmed up in the garage, drove, nothing. I know what will happen, the second I start it after putting all the trim back in, it'll come back. Oh well.
