John, it shouldn't be a wet belt. Up until 2016 the Transits shared the 2.2L engine with the Ranger, which is chain. I wish you all the luck with that engine, it does not have a good rep in the Ranger (my Ranger is the big brother, 5cyl 3.2). Word of caution however, these engines have vaned oil pumps, which DO NOT self prime. Oil changes must be carried out in less than ten minutes or wave goodbye to the engine! A well known issue with these engines that Ford refuses to acknowledge. You can however get an "upgraded" pump for it, which is actually an older gear pump, which is what I had done to mine. -

Hey, what can I say? Do it once, and do it right and all that jazz. And in my defence, it's still nowhere near as long as @Hamish replica of the Chatham Ropery 😛 -
Great to have it all together and out on track and the weather to go with it !

I’ve been told gates locked at 6pm i have to finish work ( a bit early?) and head down from Cheshire. On a good non towing run that’s 3 hours - so I guess 8pm?

Hello, Back with a bit more. There was a lot of parts on check then parts of change/adjust then parts back on etc. at both ends. The back, the springs that were in the car are 350 lb. and 10 3/4" and they had some weird adjuster "things" between the coils! The sedan springs are in now and are 425lb. and 9 7/8", with the Super Pro spacer/pads and the earlier mentioned "droop" straps. From the left guard to centre of hub 350mm and on right 360mm, chassis to floor 135mm both sides + the KYB gas shocks ( p/n 343114 sb25) They need replacing as they just return when compressed!. All this was done before the corner weight/wheel alignment of course! Have been to a GEAR day at the refurbished "Wakefield Park" (one raceway) about 120 entries! All went well apart from the "kemakazi" pilots practicing on the new track for their race meeting in the near future.(All the sports cars together). Then another GEAR day later at "Pheasant Wood" Marulen, which was much more pleasant and another good day! Regards, Michael.

Won't they let you in after hours? How late do you expect to be Hamish? -

I really don't think I'll be able to make it in my Spitfire. I'd need to have a very productive weekend but otherwise my contingency plan is to rock up in the 1300FWD, do a couple of sluggish sessions rolling around on its soft springs and then just socialise in the paddock a bit.
