    • Thanks Roger, I played Bass in a small blues group a long time ago and so fancy noise makers were not  part of my equipment   However I think I must now make one using Geraniums - Flower power to the people   Roger
    • Got a reply from Canleys yesterday. Ten words and a full stop (including the greeting and signoff) "I will look into this and get back to you." Rather terse but we'll see.
    • The thing about a person's name though is that it is personal. Noticed this when my children were very young and learning THEIR names. Turning it into a novel is nonsense. It's why someone like George V - Albert Frederick Arthur George - was called Bertie. As for Hamilton I have to say "behold, my field of f###s is barren". But it does mean he'll now have to employ a 'name gimp' to explain to anyone how to spell the new addition. I am a long term reader of science fiction and my daughter has followed me. However both of us read Consider Phlebas and came to the same conclusion that the while a long book the entire plot could effectively be condensed into everyone dies and the robot goes mad and we're back to where it all started A bit like Indy in Raiders of the Lost Ark https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vDKNGV2K4vQ I still think it's a great film.
    • Used the stuff yesterday for cleaning the grease off the defective alloy hubs for the Spitfire. Localised cleaning is about the only thing I do use it for
    • Not getting burned is a definite improvement. Big job. Just getting the bloody thing out is only the start.
    • Not that exciting, but on topic. New (to us) house came with a 10+ year old inbuilt Bosch oven, which works okay, however, annoyingly the rack/shelves are unstable and constantly falling down. The reason for this is that the side brackets for the racks are removable for cleaning, but the mounts that hold them to the side of the oven were all broken or missing. Since this instability has already nearly caused several burns I thought I should fix it... The originals are basically spring clips with a figure 8 retainer to lock against a flat on the rack bracket. Some searching online revealed this is a common issue with Bosch ovens of the era, so much so that upgraded parts are readily available from Bosch. Down side is they seem extortionately priced (£60+P&P for the 4 required), and unlike the originals can not be inserted from the inside. More searching revealed a good copy of the upgraded parts on Aliexpress at a slightly more agreeable £32 for the set. Once they eventually came in the post, apart it came, which due to my intolerance of fiberglass insulation wasn't that pleasant. It also was quite major surgery (all the cover panels are interlocked, so all have to be removed), and I imagine a majority of the population would rather throw out the oven. Here is the original clip against the rather more substantial copies of the upgraded part. Another battle won...
    • Aligning the panels on my Vitesse was a pig. The panel gaps changed when or four wheels were on the ground after getting the gaps pretty good when on stands, not helped by the straight six boat anchor hanging out at the front. You maybe ok with the four cylinder, but gaps could change when sat on the ground.
    • Front of doors is excellent. Rear….. challenging!
    • Thanks for posting that Andy, I did have a copy yonks ago but couldn't find it again. It probably was fairly simple when bits were straight off the production line, but after 50 years of aging getting stuff aligned ain't easy. Todays task is to align the rear tub with the doors. Front is as good as I'm gonna get it, and there's only a tiny gap at the back!
    • Have you ever seen this.  It sounds so simple... bodynotes.pdf
