Bill Garman Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 I am the owner of two Nash (Austin) Metropolitans 1961, and 1962. Basically a M.G.A. engine with 3 speed gearbox that is shifted from the side instead of the tailshaft. Has a lot of sprigit parts in front suspension. Rear brakes, I believe are Spitfire, on single master cylinder. According to my parts compendium, the front brake shoes interchange with early Herald. The cars have a PYE tube type radio, that I had to learn how to repair. I don't know if I can be of much help on this web site, but I hope I can learn from It. Please don't pity me, I actually enjoy my Metropolitans. Bill Garman
GT6MK3 Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 Welcome Bill! Photos? We love photos...!!! Craig.
Nick Jones Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 Metropolitans are VERY rare in the UK now as most were exported to the US and tin worm has eaten the ones that were left here. Not sure if any ever went to Oz? Strangely enough I was looking at a thread on the Nash on the Retro Rides forum very recently....... purists might not approve though - many had be given the 'rod treatment. Nick
pomwah Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 Welcome Bill, I too am well away from the home of Triumphs and Austins and similarly can't contribute much in the way of expert opinion. I tend to ask lots of numpty (ignorant/stupid) questions but the other members seem to put up with them and treat me with good humour and forebearance. Lots of good stuff on the site, enjoy. Cheers, J,2 (James, the other one)
