bearmtnmartin
I recieved a Kindle for Christmas, and am looking for some automotive title suggestions. I have just finished reading Mickey Thompson's biography (didn't know he was shot to death) and the Gold Plated Porsche by Steve Wilkinson, who was editor of Car and Driver for awhile, among others. Both good if not deep reads. Any other suggestions? I find the search process a bit frustrating.

JohnD
Only 1500 titles on Amazon that are hits to "kindle cars": http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=books+for+kindle&tag=googhydr-21&index=stripbooks&hvadid=5692731486&ref=pd_sl_4whwgoght9_b#/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Dstripbooks&field-keywords=kindle+cars&rh=n%3A266239%2Ck%3Akindle+cars Not strictly cars, but a book that everyone whould read at least once, "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance": http://www.amazon.co.uk/Zen-Art-Motorcycle-Maintenance/dp/B0026772N8/ref=sr_1_cc_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1296512816&sr=1-1-catcorr Somehow, two wheels are better for inspiring travel books. Try "Jupiter's Travels", round the world by motorbike, long before young film stars with massive support teams and sponsors even thought of it: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Jupiters-Travels/dp/B002RI92RU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1296513072&sr=1-1 And I'm segueing from wheeled transport to boats; Joshua Slocum was the first person to sail alone around the world - in 1895-8. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sailing-Alone-Around-the-World/dp/B000JQUNE8/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1296513448&sr=1-1 Slocum was more than a superb navigator, he was a great story teller, with incredible stories to tell. Look out for his "Liberdade" too - shipwrecked on the coast of South America, with his family on board, not a soul lost in the wreck. He BUILDS A NEW BOAT from the old one, and sails it and the family home to Massachusets! John PS SAATW is FREE!

If you like Slocum, look for "The ventursome voyages of Captain Voss" He takes an old West Coast Sailish native war canoe, adds a sail and a cabin, and sails that around the world! It is a really good story, and he gives you quite a bit of seafaring education at the same time.
