Just passed my test!

Just passed my test! (5/10)

  1. Well I actually paid for this bit with a near fatal accident last summer. I had a head on in my Dodge pickup with a motorhome and the insurance bought me race car parts!
  2. lol. Why thank you! Its about time I posted some pics of my car actually, since it is coming along slowly. I will go and take some tonite. I have a new (somewwhat) take on CV axles, among other things.
  3. Welcome to the world of human waste! I have made a really good living in that department. Although the money is probably better on the commercial side...... www.septicexpert.com
  4. Finally received my new crank, so here are some pics. Should rev a bit I think.....
  5. Macdonald-Cartier International (Ottawa) Airport Ticket Agent These people run the Canadian government! An Ottawa 'airport ticket agent' offers some examples of 'WHY' our country is in trouble! 1. I had a New Brunswick member of parliament ask for an aisle seat so that her hair wouldn't get messed up by being near the window. (On an airplane!) 2. I got a call from a Manitoba legislature staffer, who wanted to go to Cape Town. I started to explain the length of the flight and the passport information, and then he interrupted me with, ''I'm not trying to make you look stupid, but Cape Town is in Massachusetts ..'' Without trying to make him look stupid, I calmly explained, ''Cape Cod is in Massachusetts , Cape Town is in South Africa .'' His response -- click.. 3. A senior B.C. deputy-minister called, furious about a Florida package we did. I asked what was wrong with the vacation in Orlando . He said he was expecting an ocean-view room. I tried to explain that's not possible, since Orlando is in the middle of the state. He replied, 'Don't lie to me!, I looked on the map, and Florida is a very THIN state!!'' (OMG) 4. I got a call from a federal minister's wife who asked, ''Is it possible to see Russia from Canada ?'' I said, ''No.'' She said, ''But they look so close on the map'' (OMG, again!) 5. An aide for a cabinet member once called and asked if he could rent a car in Dallas . I pulled up the reservation and noticed he had only a 1-hour layover in Dallas ... When I asked him why he wanted to rent a car, he said, ''I heard Dallas was a big airport, and we will need a car to drive between gates to save time.'' (Aghhhh) 6. A Calgary council member called last week. She needed to know how it was possible that her flight from Calgary left at 8:30 a.m., and got to Vancouver at 8:33 a.m. I explained that Alberta was an hour ahead of B.C. , but she couldn't understand the concept of time zones. Finally, I told her the plane went fast, and she bought that. 7. A Québec MP, called and asked, ''Do airlines put your physical description on your bag so they know whose luggage belongs to whom?'' I said, 'No, why do you ask?' He replied, ''Well, when I checked in with the airline, they put a tag on my luggage that said (FAT), and I'm overweight. I think that's very rude!'' After putting him on hold for a minute, while I looked into it. (I was dying laughing). I came back and explained the city code for Fresno , Ca. is (FAT - Fresno Air Terminal), and the airline was just putting a destination tag on his luggage.. 8. A Senator from Saskatchewan called to inquire about a trip package to Hawaii . After going over all the cost info, she asked, ''Would it be cheaper to fly to California and then take the train to Hawaii ?'' 9. I just got off the phone with a rookie MPP from Ontario who asked, ''How do I know which plane to get on?'' I asked him what exactly he meant, to which he replied, ''I was told my flight number is 823, but none of these planes have numbers on them.'' 10 A senator called and said, ''I need to fly to Pepsi-Cola , Florida . Do I have to get on one of those little computer planes?'' I asked if she meant fly to Pensacola and fly on a commuter plane. She said, ''Yeah, whatever, smarty!'' 11 A senior federal government official called and had a question about the documents she needed in order to fly to China . After a lengthy discussion about passports, I reminded her that she needed a visa. "Oh, no I don't. I've been to China many times and never had to have one of those.'' I double checked and sure enough, her stay required a visa. When I told her this she said, ''Look, I've been to China four times and every time they have accepted my American Express!'' 12 A Newfoundland & Labrador minister called to make reservations, ''I want to go from St John's to Rhino, New York .'' I was at a loss for words. Finally, I said, ''Are you sure that's the name of the town?'' 'Yes, what flights do you have?'' replied the man. After some searching, I came back with, ''I'm sorry, sir, I've looked up every airport code in the country and can't find a rhino anywhere." ''The man retorted, ''Oh, don't be silly! Everyone knows where it is. Check your map!'' So I scoured a map of the state of New York and finally offered, ''You don't mean Buffalo , do you?'' The reply? ''Whatever! I knew it was a big animal.'' Now you know why the Government is in the shape it's in! Could ANYONE be this DUMB? YES, THEY WALK AMONG US, ARE IN POLITICS, AND THEY CONTINUE TO BREED. I don't write it, I just offer it for your consideration. Like manure, you just gotta spread it around. These people run the Canadian government!
  6. I don't see any allowance in there at all for hookers and blow, let alone beer!
  7. Well, the US, where democracy is the primary religion is actually a monarchy, or perhaps dynastic oligarchy? Feudal state? How else in a country of 300 million can the best candidates to lead the country be a father son succession? Or look at the many families who hold power in the senate? Sorry, not a personal attack Steve, but boy do the Americans ever not practice what they preach. Of course a big part of it is the fantastic wealth that is available upon election. That makes it easier to spend what is required to put a family member or friend with the right politics into position to help further your cause. I guess most countries are the same, and that is a shame. Not that I have an answer to correct things. Short list lifted from somewhere: -Dan Boren (D-Okla.), Connie Mack (R-Fla.) and Rush D. Holt (D-N.J.), [had] fathers [who] were senators . . . Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), Jim Cooper (D-Tenn.) and Jim Matheson (D-Utah), fathers were governors; Stephanie Herseth (D-S.D.), grandfather was governor; and William Shuster (R-Pa.), Walter B. Jones Jr. (R-N.C.), John J. Duncan Jr. (R-Tenn.) John D. Dingell (D-Mich.), Charles Bass (R-N.H.), James T. Walsh (R-N.Y.), Alan B. Mollohan (D-W.Va.) and Daniel Lipinski (D-Ill.), fathers all served in the House. . . Siblings: Rep. John T. Salazar (D-Colo.) and Sen. Ken Salazar (D-Colo.), Sen. Carl M. Levin (D-Mich.) and Rep. Sander M. Levin (D-Mich.), and Reps. Lincoln and Mario Diaz-Balart (R-Fla.) (sons of a former Cuban senator). Then there are the Udall boys: Rep. Mark Udall (D-Colo.) is son of former congressman and presidential candidate Morris Udall, cousin of Rep. Tom Udall (D-N.M.) -- whose father was a Cabinet secretary -- and cousin of Sen. Gordon Smith (R-Ore.). . . James M. Jeffords (I-Vt.), father was chief justice of the state supreme court Kimberly Dorgan, the wife of then Senator Bryon Dorgan, was a lobbyist with the American Council of Life Insurers, which spent $3.36 million to lobby in 2002 Rep. Rodney P. Frelinghuysen (R-N.J.) has had five ancestors or relatives represent New Jersey before him. Senator Chris Dodd is the son of the later Senator Thomas Dodd Senator Robert F. Bennett (R-Utah) is the son of a senator Senator Mark Pryor (D-Ark.) is the son of a senator. Olympia J. Snowe (R-Maine), is the wife John R. McKernan Jr. who was Maine governor. Armey is running for his father's seat. Rep. Charlie Gonzalez is the son of the late congress member, Henry Gonzalez. Wisconsin mayor Ed Thompson - brother of former Governor Tommy Thompson - has announced his bid for the 2002 Libertarian gubernatorial nomination. Senator Evan Bayh is the son of the late Senator Birch Bayh. The younger Bayh does not mention this fact in his online biography. Missouri Gov. Matt Blunt ® is the son of U.S. House Majority Whip Roy Blunt (R-Mo.). Another son, Andrew, lobbies for Altria as does Roy Blunt's wife. Nepotism is now being used as a way to get around term limits. For example Ohio freshman state senator Timothy Grendell has replaced his wife who sat in the seat for eight years. In Michigan three women were elected to the state legislature after their husbands left because of term limits. Also one in Florida and Maine, two in Arizona and one in Oregon, where House Speaker Karen Minnis took the seat of her husband in 1998. Says political scientist Iva Deutchman, "That's one of the wonderful things about politicians. When they change the rules, they figure out new ways to break the rules." William Weld, the former Massachusetts government is the great grandson-in-law of Theodore Roosevelt. Rep. Jim Davis, D-Fla: father was a judge, his grandfather a mayor. Senator Jean Carnahan is a widow whose husband died while on the stump for the seat she now holds. Political necromancy is exceedingly popular in America for reasons that have never been explained. Maine Senator Olympia Snow is the wife of former Maine governor John McKernan Jr. Connecticut Senator Chris Dodd is the son of former Connecticut Senator Thomas Dodd. John D. Rockefeller IV's uncle was Vice President Nelson Rockefeller
  8. THrow some 90 weight in. I used successivly heavier oil in my spit years ago trying to get the oil guage needle to flicker at least. When the 90 weight didn't do the job I said the hell with it and went back to 30 weight and ran it another year with no discernable oil pressure. When I finally pulled the pan the pump had a cracked housing. But the bearings were perfect.......
  9. Seems like the best way to upgrade the brakes is to increase leverage, which you might do with a slightly larger rotor. Newer wheels have a bit more room inside them than the stockers, especially if you have gone to a large wheel and lo pro tire.
  10. How can you be racing already? First test and tune is still 7 weeks away, and I am a little resentfull Steve.....
  11. You see these creations every now and then, but was this the first?
  12. If you like Slocum, look for "The ventursome voyages of Captain Voss" He takes an old West Coast Sailish native war canoe, adds a sail and a cabin, and sails that around the world! It is a really good story, and he gives you quite a bit of seafaring education at the same time.
  13. Dang, neither title available on Kindle. And thats the problem with the darn thing. Nothing I want to read is available.......
