Not yer usual complain, sort of.

You may have heard of events in Iceland and the town of Grindavik, a fishing port on the south coast, where the entire population of 3,300 people have been evacuated as volcanic magma has infiltrated the Earth beneath it.    This has caused massive heaving and fissuring of roads and homes, and concern that there will be an eruption inside the town!

Today, I find what the Icelanders are doing about the holes in their roads - they are filling them!

"(4) Vegagerðin Reels | Facebook    (the 'ð' character is the 'thorn' letter, present in Old English and Norse, pronounced as a "voiced alveolar non-sibilant fricative" [That's enough copying from the Wiki, Ed.] similar to 'th' as in the English word 'the')

They fill in volcanic cracks - VOLCANIC potholes!!!    When a six inch deep one in our roads can go unrepaired for months!!

Them’s proper holes mind…. Deep. Leave them open and you could lose you dog in ‘em or a kid….and his bicycle, or your granny….. so best fill ‘em in!

Mind you, there’s one just up the lane from here further up the no-through-road that has suffered greatly in the recent apple harvest and there is now a crater, usefully concealed by a huge puddle, which is deeper than welly depth. Guess how I know that…..
