As Nick points out studs vary slightly/annoyingly. Reply on the other thread on this topic. The CC hubs need spacers under the nut. Not convinced about that for a variety of reasons. Merlin Motorsport ones are billet. Don't know about the bearing spacing but they do say that for Triumph PCD the flange on the studs needs a flat cut to let them fit. Rimmers also do a version. Also from billet. Expensive. I went back to the steel hubs. They work and support the bearings well, especially for a heavier car like the GT6. Might be able to get a S/H one from somewhere though. When I last spoke to Dave he said they would be supplying spacers. It wasn't completely clear to me where the spacers would be fitted, but my assumption was that they would go under the nut rather than under the inner taper race of the outer bearing. My suspicion is that a lot of the hubs now available will require spacers as that's the sealed bearing Caterham 7 spec. But no real evidence to back that up. In the end I decided to stick with the steel hubs because A. is saved me a couple of hundred quid and B. I felt the wider bearing spacing is better from an engineering perspective. The only other thing I noted with the hubs was that the threads for mounting the discs looked very rough. Had I kept the hubs I would have been very tempted to fit helicoils here as it is a fairly critical point. The hubs sold by Merlin are machined from billet with a slightly different outside profile which means that on the Triumph PCD the flange on the back of the stud needs a flat cut/filed to clear the hub. Don't know if they are supplied with the loose taper or sealed bearing dimensions. The scunneration of the Canley's hubs rather dampened my enthusiasm. -
Sorry, fell for that one! A fair point made. It will get done, just not just yet.
