    • You know how  woowoos and hand wavers like to give each full moon a name?  Not just 'Harvest Moon' , but Wolf, Beaver or Strawberry Moons.      Well, Ladees and Gennelmen, let introduce to you, THE TRUMP MOON!!!!
    • We can drop it now
    • Roger ,  Possibly if we could avoid a European war that might be wise ? If we were to adopt the US approach and clearly warn that anyone approaching our shores without prior permission would be seen as a threat , there is every chance very few lives might be lost but if that then ended illegal crossings it would actually save thousands of lives over future years . Also the problem of illegal crossings would no longer exist . It’s not ideal but unfortunately sometimes extreme measures need to be taken to make big changes . The question of legal migration could then be reviewed and the UK could also then help the rest of Europe protect their borders ? Sure that will not go down well but it makes good sense . Sorry I know I said we could drop the subject but people keep replying .
    • That is amazing that you should post that. I came up with a plan for the RN to take the boaties back claiming that France was weaponising them and should the French rebel against this we declare war on them.    I do like the idea of a Humanitarian disaster   Roger
    • Hi John that was an excellent video. Shame it didn't end well. Regarding the DyePen.  Essentially OK but he did spray clean the surface to remove excess dye.  Because the surface was machined smooth he would have got 10/10 had he wetted his cleaning cloth and wiped the dye off. With a cast surface you still do not spray off the excess using aerosol method. There are different DPI processes to give good results on rough surfaces. I liked the way the cracks appeared from no where.   Roger
    • And no, this isn’t ‘racist’, it’s the laws of unintended consequences    In the good old days, when most of the relatively small UK migration was from the former colonies, all migrant visa passports were stamped ‘no recourse to public funds’. No job? Go home, and they actively chased down overstayers. Moving smartly inwards, we join the EU and freedom of movement. Most of the migration was now from within the EU and they were entitled to claim benefits, so they stopped marking up passports as it was a mere rounding error. With inter EU migration, many came here to work, many were high skill, and many woukd go home. BREXIT! No more millions of Europeans, and 4 million went home. Aha says Boris! I’ve got a cunning plan! We’ll bring in millions of migrants from outside Europe to do these jobs! Alas, these were not high skill, high education migrants we were used to, and most ended up either non employed, or in the low pay or gig economy. And no, despite the performative hand ringing on the TV, none of our political class want to ‘stop the boats’ *** - they aren’t that many - 50,000 - but serve as a wonderful lightning rod to distract the public from the real issue, out of control legal migration in the millions caused in large part by Boris Johnson’s political incoherence. HMG is currently like a gambler who’s spent the rent, desperately spinning the reels on the one arm bandit in the desperate hope they win the jackpot and everything comes right. *** We absolutely could ‘stop the boats’ - all the legal powers exist. You declare a ‘Humanitarian disaster’ in the Channel, then the Royal Navy can deployed to take the then back to France within international humanitarian law, and no, the French cannot turn back a ship operating to rescue civilians under a declared humanitarian disaster taking the rescued back to the beach they left. But we don’t, and we won’t.  The French don’t want them, the UK wants them, it’s all a happy bit of political street theatre on both sides of the Channel.       .
