    • Alternative meaning? Something dodgy . Or simple accent/pronunciation dispute?
    • JC is alive   Long time, no hear! Hope all is good in your world? Returning to the original problem; many changes have been made without much impact. Suggests the underlying issue has not been touched yet - so flow obstruction within the block/ head themselves seem like a possibility. I’m still not clear whether this is “runs scary hot while creeping in traffic” and cools down on the open road, or whether it heats up when going at speed or whether it just runs hot all the time?  Please clarify! As regards pump speed, these pumps can only be described as crude, with very basic impeller design. This means their efficient speed range might not be all that wide. However, so long as it runs fast enough at idle to give adequate flow (see overheats when creeping in traffic), realistically you are probably not going to be over speeding it enough to cause cavitation and flow-loss in normal road use, not for long enough periods to matter anyway.  This can certainly be an issue on the race track where high rpms and loads are maintained and some racers do run larger pump pulleys to help this.     ISTR a discussion on this years ago started by @GT6Steve, one of the rpm kings,  which also explored the possibility of using a more sophisticated (looking) impeller from a tractor in the quest to improve usable rev range. Not sure that went anywhere in the end.
    • Argument here now as she who must not be named hears soubriquet different to my fine tuned industrial hearing, oh la la. 🫣
    • Google is my friend 😆
    • Every day a school day. From the French I believe
    • Good luck - May the force be with you!  It’ll be way better than it was for sure! Yeah…… have a bit of a mild glow on myself after bike-riding and gardening the last couple of days in glorious spring weather. Having managed to completely avoid roasting myself in Oz (careful application of sun cream and hat wearing), seems I’ve failed to take UK spring sunshine seriously enough.
    • That's a new word to me, cool.  soubriquet
    • I was looking through some of your earlier posts and I saw and read a couple of things I'm very interested in, hoping you could share some more information. 1: A picture of your Water pump looks to be an earlier serviceable type with interchangeable pully. Could you please tell me about it. It's my understanding that early MK1-2 GT6 water pumps may work on my spitfire. 2: You added a Camshaft sensor, really interested in what you did!
    • Hopefully you are not frustrated with a partners ban on using your system due to direct neighbours . I acquired a pair of Tannoy i8s and a Linn Seismic bass unit linked to a Cambridge CxA81 amp about 18 months ago but am still waiting to use it ! Our place is on the market at a low price but things seem pretty dead here atm despite the sunshine .
    • Nice day for it @RedRooster - now living up to your soubriquet?? I'm nearing the closing stages of a very slow bit of bodywork repair.  Here's how it was in September: Then an unwelcome discovery in March, that I had more woes to deal with before painting A lot of dodgy welding, heat distortion, filler, sanding later it was like this: Far from perfect but time to prime. Now about to flat it off and try applying the top coat... wish me luck
