Thank you @redgaz. Was on the cusp of ordering and you tipped me over the edge. Deed done. Back to the lightswitch though. Getting the thing out is a bit of a palaver. Minimum access requires removal of the radio and radio mount. Then unclip the illumination lamp from the switch and wriggle the switch/connector out. Dismantling the switch is pretty straightforward as it all unclips with a bit of care. Master light switch was in pretty decent nick as I had replaced it a few years back after it suffered an 'overheat' incident . Cleaned and greased it with the contact grease anyway before putting it all back together. While it was all out I thought I'd have a look at the others, fog lights, hazards, rear screen and heater blower, as they all exhibit occasional irrational behaviour. Hardly surprising really. Hazard switch.. Fogs.. Nasty, lots of corrosion. And weirdly lots of dried up red grease. Not sure if this was original or done by a PO as it looked more like rubber grease than contact grease. All cleaned up, contacts polished back to bare metal with a brass brush, re-greased and reassembled. Another bugger of a job as the switch ilumination lamps are held in place by a separate clip that goes on from the inside, where you can't see what you're doing and can barely reach. Managed to pop the fuse on the fog lights putting things back together, this fuse is separate from the main block tucked away right under the top of the dash in behind the duct for the eyeball vent. So lots of upside down squirming in the footwell. Grrr.. Anyway performance much improved. basically the switches now work and stuff turns on as intended without lots of button wiggling. Just need to put the radio back in and reprogramme the damned thing. -

Thought about this when I was building the Mk1 Spitfire race car. But there are a lot more likely incident scenarios racing and even more so just driving to competition that I didn't bother in the end. But it's the old chestnut of personal risk concerns. We all tend to be more worried about the consequence of things we've seen vs probablity of them actually happening in isolation. -

Not much landline infrastructure to compete with and a fairly relaxed approach to planning on mast positioning probably helps. Solar powered phone chargers are popular too as still many folks with no mains power. -

I wonder how much that has to do with the transformative effect mobile banking had on many African economies. I remember reading an article a couple of years back around just what an impact being able to move money around without having to travel (often a really long way) somewhere to do it was. If something's valuable, people invest in it I suppose (mostly, anyway...) -

Rear suspension and chassis done, now removing everything from the bulkhead so I can tip it rearwards to sort out the front cross members and continue boxing the side rails. Double width garage which is nice but being built in 1975 it's only 4M deep! Can only just work on it with the garage door closed. 1m extension will be built......once I find a builder. And don't get me started on the structural engineering calcs! The chaps first idea was to use more steel than in the Forth Bridge! I red penned his plans and sent him back to try again. He stated all the steel work to be hot dip galvanised..... Where ya gonna find someone with a tank big enough to do a 5.5m girder.....and if ya did ...imagine how much that would cost. -
I've found all ClassicCarLEDs products to be 'brilliant'. I fitted H4 LEDs to my VW 1970 transporter, the difference is night & day.The type you show are the latest edition with a fan at the rear, just as good as the earlier non fa type, if not better. I fitted their led flasher relay to my Vitesse, absolutely brilliant and not expensive. You can always talk to Duncan at ClassicCarLEDs, very helpful. Hope this helps.
