Call Me Picky But.....

Just watched the opening titles to Quantum of Solace part of which featured a super slow motion of Bond's PPK (Makarov?) being fired. All well and good but the ejected cartridge case seems to be travelling faster than the bullet.

Been indulging in schadenfreude watching Russian dash cam footage. Does anyone there respect any of their road rules, look at the road, cross a street without getting clobbered, know how to tie down a load, figure it's better to walk than get behind the wheel drunk and/or have good road manners?

I think it's more that every Russian driver has a dashcam, because of so much insurance fraud, crash-for-cash etc. They are seen as part of your policy.

With so much dashcam footage available, the foibles that here in the UK get a mention in a local paper, (eg Lorry loses load at traffic lights) can be seen happening. Bit like child abuse - it used to go unreported, so we thoght that kids were safe. They still are but when every revolting event gets national coverage the children get taken to and met from school in case they are abducted.

Nearly ten years in Sakhalin, Russian Federation. Drove for a couple of days there in a Vaz (Lada) Niva (Cossac? in the GB). company car. Its was called the silver bullet as it was silver.. then gave the keys back to superintendent and got a driver.

Parts were cheap and crap quality. The local Vaz showroom, who were quite helpful, always had better quality Chinese parts under the counter, cost a lot more but money well spent.

Their driving? The Russian driving test in Sakhalin is in a RHD car??? how the he** does that work?? A lot of Russians I knew knew bought one.

Russia has MOT's, they cost more than the UK, but they don't look at your car. If you want an actual MOT, it's cheap but you might have to wait several hours..

No comment on Taxi MOT's.

Yea, Russian drivers suck.

PS. Russian drivers only indicate when the wheel is turned. Easy money for all you inventers out there! Something to clip on the wheel to turn indicators on and off?

AHHHHH

PS.
