vegard_s Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 Need some help identifying this TR6 exhaust manifold, never seen anything similar with regards to the flange with both inlet and exhaust ports. Someone mentioned that it might be a TriumphTune but haven't found any evidence of this so far.
GT6Steve Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 Got another one just like it in the tip if you want it. Have sawed up several just for the flange. Don't know who made them but they were common as muck here in the US. And just as well made...
Nick Jones Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 US made I think. Certainly not a common sight over here. Almost anything else would probably be an improvement. Most reasonable would probably be the OE cast one in the European twin-down-pipe spec which actually works pretty well, though if you are still using one of the wierdo narrow port federal heads you best check the exhaust port spacings are the same. I think only the inlets were different but I wouldn't swear to it. I have a couple of spare 2.5 PI heads if you decide you need a change! Cheers Nick
GT6Steve Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 Nick, did the UK 2.5's go through the port spacing variations as well? I thought that was just a US thing...
GT Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 That is an american abomination from the land of the prehistoric "headers". It's not designed to work, it's designed to be large loud and utterly pointless. Strangely enough, it's very much like this abortion from "up yours" in the UK, which behaves in a quite similar manner.

You are quite correct Steve, it is a US 2.5 thing. However, as people keep repatriating US TRs they do crop here from time to time - catching the unwary by surprise..... Nick
