Jensen Interceptor III

Recommended Posts

I have the opportinuty to get hold of a 1973 Interceptor for little to no money, it's runs and drives but for what they are asking it will certainly need some work, i have always liked these cars and would certainly entertain getting one but really know very little about them, i know about the Chrysler engine and trans and being in the US parts for this should be straightforward, however i do not know if they posses any known problems.

Can anyone let me know if they used to have 1 and what to look out for...

thanks

Don't worry about the engine, new long block is $1800.

Engine parts are easy to come by, more than 3 milion 383 mopar B engines (6.3litres) were build.

Engine parts cheap compared to other makes, eg 8 forged pistons $400.

If you are looking for engine parts, this is an easy reference:

http://www.summitracing.com

Use search Make/Engine

Now I know you can choose Jensen, but you get very few parts that way.

Better choose Dodge, 361(5.9)/383(6.3)/440(7.2) , mopar B/RB

Gearboxparts are also easy.

But your main concern is body panels, very expensive.

Like in the link Gerard gave, 2 sills = 2000pounds.

And one front wing 700pounds

Cheers,

Frederick

How about windshields for those things?  There's one for sale in SoCal for silly money.

I always wanted one of them.

My 23' motorhome had a 440 in it and it was a freakin' hotrod without the trailer!

I could jump out and pass lorrys whenever I wanted and then the pipes would bark at them as I deacclerated.  That was the ultimate race tow until the interior just fell apart with the dryrot.

I wanted an Interceptor long before that but that experience cemented the desire firmly. :P
