  1. Hi I ran across a gt6 today that suffered some carbproblems. Looking at the carbs I began to understand why. The carbs appeared to be HS4 waxstats (waxstat would explain why the car didn't drive well untill heated properly) The carblinkage also looked shite. In short - the best advise I could offer was to call Andrew Turner and ask for a new set of carbs. Now question is - what kind of carbs to get? Stick with HS4 Revert to original Strombs (inlet manifold ís the original 308671 stromb manifold) Get some HS6 It is a cable driven accelerator setup, and the owner is more the kind of plug and play type. Does the holes on a HS4 match the manifold at all? Cheers Nick
  2. 10 minutes of might just be a tad optimistic for present being. Must admit I am rather tired today It was such a great day - I couldn't imagine any better company. And with all our shortcomings we were a rather good match. Bruce need to take care of his hamstring, and I was perfect at dragging his pace down, while Bruce on the opposite was perfect at speeding me up with motivational peptalks The succesfull outcome of ysterdays race has definately not put me of doing the planned marathon in four weeks. Judging from yesterdays result it should still be doable in less than four hours. Cheers Nick
  3. At least you wont go blind the next few days
  4. The Mad Welder laid out a cunning plan. He gave the missus a new dishasher, and the old one were relocated to the workshop. Unfortunately the water were cut after a few months, and have yet to be reestablished by the landlord :-( Cheers Nick
  5. I'm with gerard here. Banning people for having an opinion about other peoples work is how this forum started. Banning GT for saying all parts for triumph is rubbish is hilariuos. 95% of the contributors here has the same low opinion of repro parts. I dont remember anyone passing banningpowers to the moderators for anything else than spammers. Cheers Nick
  6. I cannot take credit for the tidy wires. They are the work of The Mad Welder (JMH). I am the workshop monkey that cleans of undersealing and lifts heavy stuff while he is the skillfull one. I am blessed with a skilled friend Cheers Nick
  7. Very nice design on the bracket They are copper brakelines. Have been on the car for the past two years - no problems (yet ) How did you discover cracks? By leaks or complete failure? Though I dont want to chance anythiong, I really don't want to change the brakelines this season - rather wait another 7 months and get a proper automec kit (which I should have bought first place) Cheers Nick
  8. I'm still here -and kind of working on the car. Daily use in half of the year where insurance is valid takes its toll on the spit. I have replaced a worn u-joint on the drivers side driveshaft. Refreshed both driveshafts with paint New goodridge hoses. Old ones weren't bad, but bad, but I just didn't really trust the no name braided thingies. The TUV approval on the Goodridge made the difference. A new pair of calipers are in the mail and wil be fitted with new goodridge hoses next week Radiator has been of due to the megajolt project - had to drill the engine frontplate for the sensorbracket During the Radiator out I realised the hoses had seen better day - two years seem to be what they are good for. They have been replaced with silikone hoses. Boring black, so looks absolutely like the ones I took of. New fan-belt. I sorted out some bodges relating to the generatorbracket. After this the fan-belt were to long, and I had a bit of a hard time finding the proper length. And last – but most important – the Megajolt install is coming really close (mostly due to the mad welder helping me. Helping in the way, he does the work, I find the bits and bobs he need for the work) Here is a pic of the install. It is bolted to the firewall inside the car where the pedal are attached (horisontally) Also a bracket for the coil has been made – will be bolted on to the firewall using the samt to bolts that holds the heatervalve. Bracket design as per Frederick © . More news next week - hopefully the car will be started in limp home mode then Cheers Nick
  9. Nice one Clive. You met the wall and beat it and on target time as well. Cudos to you I am running my HM next sunday with Bruce. After that I will have to evaluate wether I am fit to do the marathon in 35 days. I am not sure my body is up to it - is has kind of reacted to my training programme in the opposite way of the intention. In other words - my body is completely worn down and my immune defense is like 7-eleven Cheers Nick
  10. Changed the drivers side ujoint. Turned into a complete overhaul of both driveshafts. New braided brakehoses were ordered. Decided to replace front hoses whien at it. And finally got the bracket for the megajolt timing sensor fabricated. Had to remove the radiator to drill the engine plates for the bracket. Radiator needed a lick of paint while it was out. And it appeared that all the hoses had seen better, so a silicone set was purchased. Bottom line is that car is stuck with no brakes and no ignition. Hopefully once in may it will be megajolted and have decent braided hoses. Cheers Nick
  11. I have done about 12K miles on my avos including trackdays. Just inspected the bushes - no sign of wear or oval. So I guess the have got their act straight. Cheers Nick
  12. Blimey. They aren't shy eh. I know Konis are good, but considering the price why not go with AVOs? Cheers Nick
  13. Fortunately 9/10 of the population is so obese the can do well for a month without food :-) Cheers Nick
  14. I don't understand the question. It is going to the overflow bottle right? And isn't it supposed to? Could you please describe a bit more. Is the cap letting go instead of filling the overflow bottle? Cheers nick
  15. Thanks - yes, I am beginning to appreciate the sub4. I have spoken to several running with 3 or 4 marathons in the shoes, and they all state that I really shouldn't push the time first time I do a marathon. That is hat the next marathomn are for. For this one I should just enjoy the whole thing. 20 miles - you are a nutter . Great running. I am just two minths away from the copenhagen marathon now. Here is a teaser of the route: http://www.youtube.com/embed/rNYTO0cOoOE Cheers Nick
  16. After FD75000 it is columnmounted. Part of the 1970 luxurypack with kneepads, plasticgrille, black windscreensurround and one big fat reverselight. Cheers Nick
  17. Unless it is based on a spit mk3, then the anoraks would be perfectly allright with a column mounted ignition. Cheers Nick
  18. Each to his own and blablabla. Still - I doubt I would enjoy spending £5.5K on a 5 day vacation with some incredibly wealthy people. That is mostly based on my experiences with incredibly wealthy people - a few of them relatives to me, and quite a few in my neigbourhood. You will probably end up in the local nick after jumping one of them and exersizing some martial arts This isn't about driving or the cars - it is just another good story to boast in the yacht club. Trust me - I have been there! I would much prefer taking the same route and hotels with my wife. Cheers Nick
  19. £5500 ENTRY PER CAR FOR 2 PEOPLE - that is just plain mad!!!! Cheers Nick
  20. They are fully in the groove. Extra care was taken, as I have heard about the horrors due to missing circlips. Cheers Nick
  21. Excellent - I will give it a go. It will probably make a noise if there is a problem. Thanks Cheers Nick
  22. Hi I replaced the u-joint on my spitfire swing spring driveshaft yesterday. The youke went fine, but I had problems fitting the circlips og the cups in the driveshaft. Eventually I gave it a squeze in the wise, and was able to get the circlips in place. However, after the slightly brutal treatment in the wise, the U-joint didn't move very well. It is not stuck in any way - it just moves tightly. Do I have a problem??? Should I bring out another u-joint and try again? Cheers Nick
