For a while my 3A has been sagging on the rear driver's side. Not uncommon with this model of course. Getting the car on the lift at the garage however, revealed a previously applied bodge to level the car namely, installation of different length rear hangars. Of course, as the weaker leaf spring continued to weaken the bodge ceased to be effective and the 'sag' returned. So its all coming out: new leaf springs, matching length hangars, etc.

May as well throw this out there while I'm redesigning the Trick-6 suspension. 225" Buick V6 engine and T5 five speed OD trans. The original real diff was taken before I got the car and would never work anyway. Original rear leaf spring is gone and not missed, expecting to use coil-overs. Being a +/Mk. III it had the roto-flex couplings. I need to create an entirely new rear suspension. Thinking of using Merkur XR4TI as it's fairly available and has the correct 4x108 PCD for my 14"x6" Enkei wheels. Anyone ever fit the Merkur/Sierra rear to a GT6? It's about 8" too wide in stock form. Would also want to upgrade it to rear disc brakes. Scrap everything from the original rear, or just the diff and axles? Would like to keep as much as possible "Off the shelf". I see lots of post on using Subaru diff's, why not the Ford? I can also readily get Ford T-bird 8.8" diff's but they are pretty large and more than I need for a V6.

Back to correcting a few flaws with the GT6+ Or MK11 for the Islanders. Revisiting overall alignment has been necessitated due to some uneven tire wear and the steerings inability to self return to center. Toe-in has been corrected, alignment seems pretty good to the rear as well. As best as I can determine positive caster is present but barely a degree. On PS (LHD) there are 2 shims on both lower arm brackets, DS there are 4 on the rear and 3 on the front portion of the lower arm. I am considering shuffling these around. Where best to start? Find center of the frame and equalize the distances? Equalize the shims to maybe 2 each and go from there? Is there any danger of stressing the trunnions with too much shimming on the rear mount of the A arm and how much would be too much? Cheers Tim
