Oh our yearly or twice a year once your over 40 medical assesments are done via the aviation authority medical examiners, its just then waiting on sign offs for extra checks when the NHS gets involved so basically if the medical exam brings anything up. Had guys waiting 6 months for a heart scan work up ect. 2
JohnD Posted April 21 Posted April 21 And why do you think the NHS is inadequate? The above is from the King's Fund's page, The NHS Budget And How It Has Changed | The King's Fund. The King's Fund is an academic and unbiased source, that further points out that NHS funding "has increased by an average of 3.7% per year in real terms" in the last 70 years, while inflation over the same period has averaged 5.24%. IMHO, health screening is usually worthless and can increase health costs to no benefit in long term health. See: Hackl, Halla, Hummer, Pruckner, The Effectiveness of Health Screening, Health Economics 18 July 2014 https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.1002/hec.3072 Exceptions exist, such as screening for high blood pressure and cervical cancer (Although since we can now vaccinate against Human papillomavirus (HPV) , the main cause, that may not be true much longer). PeteStupps Posted April 21 Posted April 21 Back to bollocks topic, you know that saying about idle hands. Well I had a spare day so went to clean the farmyard filth off my 1300fwd after holidaying in the countryside. While cleaning I knocked a bit of rotten sill where it meets the rear wheel arch. Some idle poking and broggling later and I found quite a lot of rot and an awful lot of filler!

Unfortunately the King's Trust report missed the obvious conclusion from those numbers. The NHS budget for 2025 is £192 billion, or approximately £75.5 million each day of the year. That is 18% of government spending. Which is already pretty much unsustainable with our present economy and population. And even at that level is clearly inadequate. That was with 3.7% year on year for the last 70 years If NHS spending had increased at 5.24% year on year the the Budget would now be £538 billion. Or more than 50% of government spending. Which is utterly infeasible and we would have had to abandon the current model many years ago as being completely unaffordable.
Sigma hurricane Posted April 21 Posted April 21 I suspect the 1000’s of passengers I carry everyday would be happy that we are routinely health screened. You would be surprised with the amount of issues it picks up. 1
Sigma hurricane Posted April 21 Posted April 21 Having spent my day at Lancaster hospital with the Grandmother in her 90’s it really hits home how much the NHS is struggling. Permanent beds in the corridors. People waiting over 24hrs in Chairs. Whilst the NHS clearly needs more money I think that alone isn’t going to sort the problem.

And you’re right. A large part of the issue is bed-blocking due to “delays” arranging onward care outside the NHS.

So EVERY govt has increased NHS spending year on year. Obviously that cannot go on forever, otherwise it will get to a point where there is zero money for anything else. On the other hand, nobody is brave enough to tackle the big issues and start telling people they cannot have the treatments that they were expecting.

Does the car lean to that side or is it balanced by equal volumes on the other side (I’m reminded of a certain GT6…. Though in some areas half the thickness was lead)
egret Posted April 22 Posted April 22 I joke that while most of my car was penned by the great Michelotti, the rear passenger wheel arch is styled by me. Looks like you could be in a similar position soon! 1

It is really an impressive feat of filling - the wheel arch profile was very tidy until the rust forced its way out. I fear the other side might be the same but I'm not going to pick that scab just yet
RedRooster Posted April 22 Posted April 22 Nice afternoon to have a Cafe and watch the world go by. 1
Nick Jones Posted April 22 Posted April 22 Looks very pleasant. My feelings about Brindisi have been forever coloured (most unreasonably to be fair) by spending nearly 5 (extra) hours sat on a holiday charter flight at the airport waiting for thunderstorms on Corfu to blow over….. No ground power so no AC…..
JohnD Posted April 22 Posted April 22 "Watching the world go by" Reminds me of, was it a Roman, who like sitting by the river (don't we all?) But for him it was that, "if you wait long enough, the bodies of your enemies will float by." Probably works the same for a cafe, but it must depend on where. John
Escadrille Ecosse Posted April 22 Posted April 22 (edited) That's an epic level of filling Pete. Even more than some of the stuff I was slapping in making moulds for the Spitfire panels. Brindisi looks very pleasant. Hopefully minus the bodies floating by... Went through to Stirling this evening to meet up with some of my pals from school for one of our semi-regular meals. On the motorway just past Denny I spotted what I thought was a familiar shape about three cars ahead of me. Sure enough when the traffic cleared it was a rather nice Escort RS Turbo. I waved at the young lad (young-ish at least, certainly not old enough to have been driven when they were current!). He gave it a wee blast past just before he turned off. Made me 'all nostaligic' it did. I had the slime green fiesta tonight as the Scimitar is trapped in the driveway by the skip full of old slates still. And on the was back to Glasgow something on the dash caught my eye. It was the odometer reading 12 12 12. Took me a seconds to register that it wasn't the car telling me it was 12 December 2012 but the mileage with the spacing caused by the LED display. Edited April 22 by Escadrille Ecosse

JohnD Posted April 25 Posted April 25 Seen just now: Does "Soul Hunter" have a less spooky meaning in Korean?
Nick Jones Posted April 25 Posted April 25 Would it be boring of me to suggest this may be a whimsical owner-added accessory…..
Sigma hurricane Posted April 26 Posted April 26 I think they were that hideous 2011ish Kia compact box?
