Ordered a short 3/8" breaker bar and a 3/4" socket for same off Ebay recently. From two different sellers but at the same time so the same Ebay order number.

The bar arrived a week after. The lad handed it to me and took a photo of proof of delivery.

Another week goes by and the socket still not arrived. Ebay parcel tracking number indicates it's not even in transit. So I contact the seller. Who comes back to say it was delivered two days after the breaker bar and sends me the photo of the bar delivery as proof.

So I challenge him on that and send a screenshot of the delivery status. I then get a reply showing a different tracking number and his claimed delivery date. And then proceeds to ignore further correspondence.

Complaint to Ebay gets rejected. Appeal likewise on the basis that they have the 'alternative' tracking info.

So lesson for all you good people out there. Don't buy items from different sellers in a combined order. Just in case.

On the other hand I still have that extra diesel heater that the seller couldn't be bothered organising the return for.

Yes good advice, Colin.

I did the combined thing once using the collect at Argos option.
One parcel arrived but Argos couldn't give it to me because ebay had not given them the necessary code,
whereas the undelivered parcel they had a code for!
Fortunately the second parcel showed up a few days later, so Argos now had two codes so could give me the parcels

In fairness,
The Argos option has been good for me,
for instance,
I bought a pair of seats from Demon Tweeks via ebay, this being something DT would not let me order directly because of my post code.

The main advantage is that it avoids a carriage surcharge
(as the parcels are delivered to Argos in Greater Manchester for distribution to the selected store).
However it does not get round the "Seller does not post to Scotland" annoyance.
(When we were in the EU I bought things a few times from Germany, carriage was not only cheaper but faster too!
I haven't tried buying anything recently so don't know how that is nowadays.)

Ian, the nonsense about north of Perth and the islands is unexcusable.

Not just north of Perth etc! :whistling:

Those of us living from Luss north have two postal addresses, because if I use my county area (A&B) some couriers try to stick us with the surcharge! However, substitute A&B for West Dunbartonshire, and no problem.

It is quite literally nothing more than a con. Particularly when you consider that on a good day I am only 45 minutes from Glasgow Centre!

Jeez. I thought they were a bit more particular about the post code in A&B. But yeah a bloody scam.

But I like your workround

Mind you the who 'county' thing is just nonsense.

Here in Glasgow depending on which particular piece of crap addressing software they are using it can be Glasgow (doh), Strathclyde - abolished in 1993 or more often Lanarkshire which disappeared in 1973. FFS.

And again with the chancers, wind up merchants and ner do wells.

When I got my new phone last year I also received free pair of earbuds. However you could only use the buds if you allowed geolocation. So sod that.

Anyway got round to sticking the things on ebay. These seem to attract all the nutters of the day. Multiple silly offers, weird messages and even one that was an obvious scammer (asking from more photos and information that was already in the listing)

Ultimately the things sold but the winning bidder failed to pay, ignored any communication and ultimately ebay just cancelled the transaction - and any feedback regarding failure to pay. How helpful is that?

Stuck the bloody things back on ebay again. A repeat performance from the great unwashed which I mostly ignored. Sold again. And again no payment. This time I noticed that the winning bidder had sent a rather strange message just before the auction ended to which I hadn't replied. Didn't reply but sent an invoice a couple of days later and got another cheeky reply - four questionmarks.

Not replying and so have cut to the chase and reported him to ebay.

FFS....

Could it be that someone was pirating his ebay account, so that your message was the first the genuine owner knew of the transaction, hence the ???

None of that story fills you with confidence about the Bay!

Good point John, hadn't thought of that.

Either way I'm not getting involved in a conversation and leaving it to ebay to sort/ignore
