Kastner, on direct throttle control of Pi

The majority of Lucas PI race systems used some form of control cam to modulate the control stop based on throttle position, instead of vacuum. The lightweight E types used both. Some used eccentrics on the cam instead of shims for adjustments, with the fancier ones using a micrometer style adjustment.

Harm Klijn of Power Props in the Netherlands services these, and has some excellent pictures on his website. He also has two books which I highly recommend to gain some understanding of the units and how they work, as well as some plain great pictures.
