Engine build help request . Please..

Recommended Posts

Presume you mean the yellow tape wrapped part?  Is that all of it or doe something have to screw on to it? Have you tried that engine and manifold in the car yet?  I fear you may have bigger problems involving chassis rail conflict with the downpipe so you might want to check that?

Thanks Nick , I came to the same conclusion and have told CCK that I will sort the issue once the engine is returned to me .

There was also a problem with the cam housing end covers . Seems very hard to come by for the Delta 8v . There is a German company listing new ones for sale on EBay but strangely none of their pages on there are functioning . The two likely suppliers in the UK also seem to be struggling to come up with them , Tanc Barret and Delta Works .
They did point out that the 8V Delta ran a rear cam run distributor explaining why the German company only showed the cover from one side .
Luckily the 124/131 versions share the same bolt holes and are only missing a small section on the outer flat surface . I therefore asked CCK to weld on a small 3mm thick addition to these  . They are going to check if the depth of the slight bulge of the 124/131 versions are correct to match the cams they seal in .

Also I managed to sell one of two spare engines I had listed on EBay only to then realise it included a water pipe I needed that attaches to the rear of the water pump and links to the nice stainless water outlet that can be seen on the top of the head to aid head flow . 43719A2B-136F-48D8-951D-50EDA996EE6E.jpeg.444786752cc83a935ad818a08c8578f1.jpegBD13957B-133F-4388-BB09-147FBFECA421.jpeg.b3fb67c783791bf4813101302ff9d1ec.jpeg6EFD4697-C4D6-4867-A2FF-DBFBAEBA98AE.thumb.png.063aa542427e671a914a3d9f927dbd0e.pngA40318A1-FBC5-4856-9809-9E10251BFCC3.jpeg.dc109031330cc40c6c57487e63db6b66.jpegB7D34D66-ACE1-4236-A4ED-5ABB36B126E5.jpeg.ce34e2096c8f6b7faa82a07d71780074.jpeg  Idiot !!! :ermm:

Thankfully and very surprisingly one was listed on EBay for 40.00 and is now on its way , again from Germany .

Oh yes , somehow the trigger wheel I was convinced was within the boxes I took to CCK has vanished ? .?. However a new one was then ordered and is due to be fitted tomorrow .
Hopefully soon after I get off from the jury service I am currently on , the cam hosing covers will have been modified , inlet manifold and injectors fitted and a question about whether Troy at Northampton Motor Sport requires the fly wheel and clutch fitted ready for them setting up the engine will have been resolved and I can collect . Exciting apart from the BIG BILL !!!

Yes , same as the previous engine but with the inlet and outlet switched over . The collector tube on the end of the header will need cutting and re welding at a slight angle to clear that oil outlet though .

I now need to sell the 130tc Strada engine to get the money to take it up to Northampton Motorsport for the Omex set up , run in and dyno . Expecting another 2 K plus for their work !

I found out the AP Suretrac that was sold to me as an R160 was in fact an R180  so I had Phil at Road and Race fit a new Quaife in my second 4.11 diff instead .

Probably should have listed it for more Nick but have droppy it by about thirty pounds over the weeks/months .

interesting that one feels one needs to keep lowering it when the lowness might be the problem !

The rebuilt 130tc Strada engine with a separate brand new 2.0 block , crank and rods , new PERSAN HC pistons and a manifold for twin DCOEs is up for £3,000 which again seems like a bargain  ,  has again about 1200 views and 22 watchers . NO BUYERS !

Major struggle on my own but I managed to mate the engine with the TranX for a trial fitting .

some issues but nothing that can’t be overcome .

I think the header will have to be sold on after asking exhaust fabricators to copy it with slightly different collector position .

I think I would have cut the filters, and reglued them to a shape that cleared the bulkhead!

I had to cut the  bulkhead to fit the Lucas Pi Metering unit to the Vitesse, with the engine moved back a tad, but when I enlarged the plenum tube and that fouled the bulkhead the other side, I trimmed the plenum tube

Anyway, foam filters inside the engine compartment, behind the radiator, feed hot air to the engine.  Suggest you build an airbox to contain them that is fed from  in front of the radiator!

Hi John , I was intending to fit a fresh air line fed from the front then split each hose exiting just below the two filters to ensure a good cool air supply . Unfortunately the edge of the ATR horns are only mm’s inside the filters so not much scope but definitely sound thinking .

l spent a couple of hours today on the car , mainly on the main water feed from the back of the head forwards towards the radiator . The challenge being that usually the outlet would have fed outwards from the block but now has to feed along the centre of the head with both the plug leads and the secondary end feed head water outlet in the way .

I had a couple of outlet parts that might be of use and thankfully the long water outlet from a Lancia Beta seems to have been just the ticket . These are in big demand as they rust out so quite a financial sacrifice to remove a big section but could not have worked out better .

I have just ordered some  16mm Samco hose to connect the secondary head outlet to the rear of the now EX water pump inlet . This helps to prevent hot spots in the head .
I have also ordered a meter of -12 hose to link the dry sump pump to the scavenge input on the Titan pump .

This line will pass through the hole in the suspension tower .
