Another in-car video from Mid-Ohio!

This time it's from mid-field and is a bit more exciting than watching from the lead car as it steams away!     This is David Gott in his Tr4, as he dices with Spitfire, Herald and GT6!

Very cool! Great battle with the Spitfire. All the graphics are useful as well.

What happened to our man at the start though? Everyone just piled past him

Makes me want to get out and do trackday whenever they're up and running again...

Yes that's one quick herald. Sits really low and handles well at high speed. Must be a very well sorted chassis, full cage must help. Presume fibreglass panels all round. Obviously skilled builder/ driver to achieve this performance.

In the old TSSC/TRR series there was a purple Herald - Hadfield was his name - that used to regularly do well, usually beating me in Silverback, with a 2l engine.   And I got Sb's weight down to 850kgs.   Here he is at Croft, 2004, giving Dave Thompson a hard time.

The Herald at Mid-Ohio was owned and driven by Jerry Barker  of Hesperia, CA.

That's Jerry Barker, multitime SCCA champion.  He grew up racing Spitfires with his father.

When he decided to build the Herald he chose it specifically over a Spit to prove what he could do with a challenge..  The car is all steel and has a tendency to destroy gearboxes.  He's a good builder and a superb driver.

Here's more reporting from Mid-Ohio and the Kastner Cup.     This time it's in print, not hard-copy but in the E-magazine format.

The SVRA has it's own magazzine, don't all clubs, but theirs is electronic:

https://www.flipsnack.com/thesvra/stq-7-3/full-view.html

The Kastner Cup report starts on page 36.

Enjoy!

John

Your enjoyment may be limited by the pitiful reportage on the Cup!  One paragraph - ONE! less than 200 words!

It's out!   The Classic Motor Films record of the 2020 Kastner Cup race:

What a  good film!   Tells the story of the race without commentary, exciting for start to finish!

My thanks to all the Friends of Triumph and everyone at the SVRA, for what they have achieved and regrets for what might have been if it were not for Covid.

But most of all, best wishes to Kas Kastner, the original Triumphero and to Betty.   Thinking of you.
