Hello, Well at least I have a pleasant distraction. The grandson (he is 7 )is here for a couple of weeks !  And I am fitting the glovebox/lid to my wife's TR3A (it's hand crafted wood). Regards, Michael.

Hello, Have the trailing arm back. It had TWO cracks! Both in places that don't seem commen. So will have to have a harder look at the other one, luckey it's not fully assembled. Regards, Michael.

Hello, Well both trailing arms are on and including; brakes, hubs, drive shafts. Now need to change/bleed brake fluid and tension hub studs, between 11-16 newton metres ! No wonder so many of them get stripped ! Regards, Michael.

Hello, My sentiments as well Nick, and Colin's comment on Jan 15th.  Colin that is for the original 5/16 UNF stud into the alloy trailing arm, now I have 3/8 UNC into the trailing arm. Regards, Michael.

Hello, Sorry Colin, I thought I may have been putting up  more pictures than I should. Nick, I wish, but I'm still having the little backward moves also. The exhaust is giving me a fair bit of grief as well. The extractors "sweep" back in and touch the sump!  On a positive note the brakes are bled. Regards, Michael.

Hello, Well a bit more foward motion. Had to modify the extractors so they would clear the block/sump,by moving the bottom of pipes 1and 6 (from their merge point ) from the inside to the outside ( not sure how that will affect the flow) which was the easiest way to make them fit. Then remove carbys from inlet manifold to fit both manifolds to head then re fit carbys. Regards, Michael.

Hello, Nick do you know what your set of extractors were off?  The carbys (according to my research) are from a US market Rover 2.2  (P6?).  I asked very early on about tuning them on the TR6 (before the motor rebuild) So now I will see how they go (post rebuild). The TR3 that I pit crew for runs a pair (the driver/owner gave me my pair) Regards, Michael.

Did Rover 2200s run 2” SUs?

thought that was a Jag thing. Or are they 1.75s with funny shaped dash pots throwing me off?

I think the early P6s had HS8 carbs as these were a source the big carbs back in the day. Not sure if it was 2000 or 2200s though. Memory bank overflow.

No going to argue. I simply don’t know. A mate had a 2000 SC (dog slow and thirsty to boot) then upgraded to a 2200 TC manual which was really quite rapid and no thirstier (in spite of his best efforts). In fact it was slightly quicker than another mates 3500 auto (and that really did have a drink problem!), though that may have been a few cam lobes short. I thought the 2200 had HIF6s, but was a fairly late one.

Edit: I remembered I have an SU book…. That says 2200s have HIF 6s but, bizarrely, that 2000TCs have either HD or HS8s….. Odd!
