A30Racer Posted October 5, 2022 Author Posted October 5, 2022 The new garage footings in all their magnificence. The raised bit in the middle is the edge of the inspection pit. The top layer of blocks on the pit will be removed, hopefully leaving a nice straight edge. The Austin's new home (& a few of his elderly chums too, no doubt!)
A30Racer Posted October 6, 2022 Author Posted October 6, 2022 Finally, yes! Progress at last. The concrete has been poured and it looks good. Although it is a big building, it seems smaller with every step upwards. Perhaps a cull of the fleet may be required. Just not sure where to start. 1
michaeljf Posted October 24, 2022 Posted October 24, 2022 Hello, Long time since I have seen a pit. Looking good! Keep it moving forward. Regards, Michael.
Martin Posted October 24, 2022 Posted October 24, 2022 Looks good and seems to be the base for a lot of room for current and future projects.
A30Racer Posted October 27, 2022 Author Posted October 27, 2022 The reason we went for the pit option is the height of the VW LT motorhome. The ridge height of the roof is fixed, so jacking it up a lot isn't an option. Updates will follow........
Nick Jones Posted October 27, 2022 Posted October 27, 2022 Got any walls yet? And is the motorhome back from it's spa hols yet?
A30Racer Posted November 5, 2022 Author Posted November 5, 2022 We do have some progress on the walls, but been slow the last week due to the weather. The old VW is heading back to the spa this weekend to have a new head fitted and then set up on the rolling road (hopefully that will mean the last trip to the spa for a long time!). I also got the heating & hot water systems working, so it's becoming more civilised. I may have to start a new thread............

michaeljf Posted November 7, 2022 Posted November 7, 2022 Hello, Good to hear there is progress, and I can relate to the multiple project jobs! regards, Michael.
A30Racer Posted April 27, 2023 Author Posted April 27, 2023 We now have a roof and walls, but no doors or electrics at present. Really looking forward to getting the little old A30 in here (& a number of other injured old nuggets to keep him company!) 1
michaeljf Posted April 30, 2023 Posted April 30, 2023 Hello, Looking good! Keep it moving. Regards, Michael.
Nick Jones Posted October 14, 2023 Posted October 14, 2023 Yeah…. He’s very slack with his reporting. I gather substantial progress has been made though. I have a personal inspection booked for a couple of weeks time….. 1

michaeljf Posted November 5, 2023 Posted November 5, 2023 Hello Duncan, Will this spur you on a bit ? Regards, Michael. 2
A30Racer Posted November 10, 2023 Author Posted November 10, 2023 Apologies for the lack of reports. Pleased to say we had an inspection from Mr & Mrs Jones a couple of weekends ago. The roof is on, the floor is painted, sockets are working, as are most of the lights. Both doors fitted and operational. The current in-mates are the mighty VW LT Karmann, step-daughter's VW T25, the Caterham and the Austin A30 (which now has the engine & box refitted). VW T25 has sidelined quite a lot of my efforts doing an engine change & now welding in prep for MOT etc 1 1
BiTurbo228 Posted November 11, 2023 Posted November 11, 2023 Man am i jealous. I very nearly ended up with a proper sized garage, but living in a listed building and close proximity to a mature Ash put paid to that. Looks great!

Interestingly as it's a healthy specimen and we're quite close to Folkestone where it started it's likely that it's got some level of resistance. Hence my being reticent about just lopping it down!
Nick Jones Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 Here’s hoping. There are many ash trees in this area and the majority are starting to look sick. Not all though. Have you had a re-shuffle since, or is that an archive shot of the big white box in residence? The only drawback with big sheds is that they tend to attract toys….. and then they are too full to easily work in…. 2
michaeljf Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 Hello Duncan, Very glad for the report! and the photos. Thank you. (I like your 'A' frame extendable ladder) Keep the reports coming regardless of subject. ( I can't talk ,HA) Regards, Michael.
