zetecspit Posted September 29, 2019 Posted September 29, 2019 (edited) In a V8 mustang... Not horrendous but obviously built to a tight budget. However, as we were pottering down Highway 1, on a few of the steaight bits (mostly a bit twisty, it would be a great road if less people about and no speed restrictions) I started playing with the menu. I was actually looking for the mpg, but seems not available. Maybe just as well Anyway, i did find a bit where you have detailed data from the ECU. Head temp, intake temp, oil temp etc, but the interesting one was afr. I was expecting a light cruise to produce something around 15, but no, about 13.8 seemed the norm. Gentle acceleration (very gentle) and it slipped up to just over 14, but under 14.5. overrun it must cut fuel, and press the loud button and it drops. But only to around 13. I am guessing they are keeping it a bit rich to reduce NOX emissions? Makes me feel better about my setup, where the car feels unhappy at afr over 15, even on cruise at 2500rpm. (But I wonder if the vvt is poorly set up at said cruise, despite being the ECU suppliers vvt map for that engine, it may not be ideal) Anyway, just some musings. Unusual to see the live data on a new car in the UK. Edited September 29, 2019 by zetecspit
