Once again, well done, Roger, and thank you!     They won't let me give any more (medication) or I'd be chasing your much greater record!

Well done Roger.

Puts me to shame as I've always dodged it for some reason or other, often because of a short term issue but mostly inertia. Really should do something about it when I get the cardio sorted and I'm off the anticoagulants.

Slight rant.

I have had my last few donation appts cancelled, one on the day. So haven't been able to actually give blood for 2 years.

My wife just got a message to say her next donation appt in July has been cancelled. Same story, almost 2 years.

I have no idea what is happening. Staff shortages?? Anybody else having the same issue or is it just the SE?

Yes, staff shortages:   https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/nhs-blood-donation-appointments-cancelled-b2209311.html    The Blood Donor Service has the same problem as the rest of the NHS.

Overall, the NHS is has 150,000 unfilled posts: https://digital.nhs.uk/data-and-information/publications/statistical/nhs-vacancies-survey/april-2015---december-2022-experimental-statistics#

And what are Barclay (Health Minister) and Hunt (Chancellor) doing?   Doing his master's bidding Barclay is a mouthpiece for Hunt, refusing to negotiate better pay, when Hunt in particular was Health Minister, and wrote about the low staffing of the NHS in comparison with other equivalent nation's heath services.   In his book "Zero" he said that stress due to the high workloads and low pay led to staff leaving the NHS, making the staffing ratios even worse.   Who do we believe?  Hunt the Health Minister or Hunt the Chancellor?

John

Sorry about the sermon, but you did ask.

Both are a thoroughly nasty bit of work, but the health minister version is the more correct in this case.

The chancellor version is an utter hypocrite. Though as an owner/shareholder in private healthcare he’s clearly got his own interest in running the NHS into the ground.

Current government appear to be aware they’ll be out next time and operating a scorched earth policy.

Hello All

Well this Old Bugger managed another one today so that's 129 credits!

Even allowing for the 3 when it was low thats still about 14 gallons.

I do wonder about the testing for strenght method/Kit?

Today it failed the blue stuff (Antifreeze?) test but the machine said 145!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That to me is one hell of a difference?

135 is the pass rate for men but will fail if one point under?

Still one more notch on the old arms?

Hello All

I have booked the next one! 130 sounds nice?

I do take Iron tablets before as I think I am just border line every day?

But they Bugger up the bowl movments!

Still a bottle of wine and Crisps etc with all the crap in them gets me normal again and it is a small price to pay to help others?

Plus I exect We are both lucky at being 78.5years and close to 75years old with no major problems?

I take bugger all and the Memsahib is on a low dose of statins!

I recon it is the wine that does it and Driving a Classic Car and going on Mad trips!

This year this daft old pair are going to Porugal in 2 weeks for a week (by plane) then off to Spain in June for just under 3 weeks!

Then a Good mate has talked us into going to the Shlumph collection and Railway museum then on to do the Stelvio pass and about 10 more!!

You can guess who has booked for them all?

Still it will be a Great trip with 5 Classic cars and friends(not a holiday)

Roger and The Memsahib

Ps I have even talked them into visiting Theipval memorial on the way back!(seems a shame not to?)

Titan would not do all this for you?

pps I have even found a hotel halfway up the Stevio we are staying at!(after climbing 2 passes then going down a bit to climb back up the next day?)

Berghotel Franzenshöhe? We stayed in a very nice hotel in Bormio in 2019.  Stelvio was  closed due to a landslip so we went to Livigno (tax-free fuel and booze!), through the Munt la Schera tunnel, then east along a more major road down the Mustair valley which is a great road through superb scenery.  Personally, I'm over the Stelvio having done it several times in both directions.  Vey impressive visually, but not that much fun to drive and often very congested.  The run up from Bormio and down the Umbrail (or the reverse) is a better drive IMO.

Hello Nick

We are going up the Umbrail to the Stelvio then down the bormio and then a lot of others?

This is the total route!!!! (The Swizz bit?)

Yes that is the one Berghotel Franzenshöhe

What can possibly go wrong ???

Stelvio is just too busy these days to really enjoy, too many bikes and campervans!
Just had a very significant birthday and my daughter, Libby who did some 10CR's with me in my Herald, GT6 and TR6 made this wonderful cake for me.

Ps John I hope you do not need some of it for your hand repairs?

Wow, very impressive, I did my second a few months ago. My recent uhh "travel history" led to the "further details" box being completely full... Although at least in my area there was a shortage, especially of those with O-type blood so hopefully it was worth it.
