Hello all,

Like so many before me, I'm coming over from the TR Register forum. I am sure that others already have written about what's standing practice is over there. No need to go into that.

About me personally: middle-aged bloke, semi-retired schoolteacher*), family and a great fan of cars, boats in general and sailing. Oh, and all garden equipment with a petrol engine!

I own:

  • an every day VW Up, brilliant little runabout - I can park it everywhere I want!
  • a MY14 Honda CR-V AWD for hauling boat trailers - best car I've ever owned. It goes on and on and on!
  • an MY71 Saab 96, 55K kms since new. Found it the middle of Sweden, drove it home and now simply enjoy it
  • a MY73 all original, unmolested, EU-specs Porsche 914, for sale but not seriously advertising it.
  • a late '59 TR3A - fully restored - not for sale; my pride 'n joy

Browsing through the Sideways Forum got me on my toes from time to time with an "... oh, that's an interesting machine, want one!" etc.

I will try to comment from time to time. Be aware though, English isn't my first language, so I might miss a few details from time to time. Bare with me!

*) Who retired from 40 yrs teaching last July, but was asked to make a come-back last September to replace a teacher with a burn-out; now teaching a class full of 'special needs' kids 12-14y/o - a bucket of frogs. Despite all their different 'operating manuals' they all outperform the expectations that came with them at the beginning of the school year!! *proud*

Hi Menno,

Welcome!  Certainly recognise your name from TRR.  As you can deal successfully with a class full of special needs kids, maybe we should make you a moderator!

Welcome, Menno.  A lot of the old gang on here over the last few days.

40 years teaching (or even teacher coaching) is a long time!  My father was pretty burned out after thirty-plus years in the classroom.  Good on ya for taking on a special needs class.

And the 914 is for sale, yet keeping the TR3A?  Your priorities are spot on!

Hi Menno, Good to see you here. Our 2005 CRV is now two wheel drive after the rear diff seized. Its a common fault, the 'dual pump fluid' must be changed regularly. Peter

Great to meet you here guys!

Don (4xdog here) and I are planning a Transatlantic GTG at the end of this month when he's in Holland. I am sure we'll keep you posted/annoy you with a few pics of that!  to be continued on another part of this forum!
