itiejim Posted January 3, 2017 Posted January 3, 2017 In an effort to simplify (and waterproof) the bulkhead I have welded up all the various wiring loom holes and want to fit a decent quality detachable bulkhead fitting. This will only need to carry the bonnet loom plus horn etc - not everything for the ECU which will take another route. Can anyone point me in the direction of a good quality item which will do the job?
Urge Posted January 3, 2017 Posted January 3, 2017 id visit a modern car breaker yard and start looking at there wiring looms (inc the fuse box,s) Its hard to advise unless you state how many pins need to be on the plug

spitfire6 Posted January 3, 2017 Posted January 3, 2017 Hi Nick, How much does the crimping tool cost? I used Harting and ILME connectors at work. IP67 i think. Screw terminals, Solder or crimp. Crimp tool is about a grand. Cheers, Iain.
Urge Posted January 4, 2017 Posted January 4, 2017 keep in mind, your largest wire size and the amps/volts needed. (you may have aftermarket spotlamps etc) open the wire, count the number of individual strands, and you can work out what currant it carries, then buy the plug that suits
motov8id Posted January 15, 2017 Posted January 15, 2017 And economical solution would be to have the bonnet harness penatrate the bulkhead a short distance to an 8 or 10 pin connector (8 wires needed for the front lights, horn, oil presure light and charge light plus future spares). A grommet to seal the harness penatration would be easy to find as would an 8 pin weather proof connector. You could power every thing with 16 gauge wire and use a relay powered off the alternator and mounted by the horn for the headlights
