mattius Posted March 26, 2016 Posted March 26, 2016 Been having a nightmare lately trying to get hold of a Late Spitfire Indicator Switch Assembly, turns out Lucas has discontinued them, only place that has any left are rimmers and they want £84!! So turns out an 80s mini indicator switch assembly is a direct replacement, wire colours are different but it works out the box. Only difference i can find is the lever is 5mm shorter and at a slight angle. The big bonus, the mini one is £30!!! thats a bargain!
Nick Jones Posted March 26, 2016 Posted March 26, 2016 Parts compatibility with Minis is very good as they are extremely well served parts wise - so thanks for that useful info! Are the Dolomite, TR7 and big saloon not the same also? Nick
mattius Posted March 27, 2016 Author Posted March 27, 2016 I was up at Chic doigs, we couldn't find any similar triumph one to use, im not sure if they are in the same boat as the spitfire one and discontinued The discontinued triumph part is AAU7994 The Mini Part is 21A2658 http://www.minisport.com/21a2658-steering-column-switch-mk3-early-rh-indicator-stalk-76-84.html

Are the Dolomite, TR7 and big saloon not the same also? Nick Dolomite, T2000 mark 2 range and Stag are interchangeable (but note the year of the car since the wiring loom plugs changed c.1973). These are not the same as a Mini though. I am not sure about compatibility among the TR7, Marina, Maxi, Princess etc but do know they are different to the Dolomite/2000/Stag. I think the ignition switches are pretty much common to all. Ian.
zetecspit Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 TR7 stuff fits late spitfire column. Had to give it a slight tweek to get the angle right though, but not hard. They were very cheap a few years ago, probably not now though....
