The Red Shed

Awesome.
I always find it interesting to see what lies behind the front outer panels.

Once upon a time it was a dream of mine to build a "fast road" mark one 2000
but a Dolomite Sprint is a good alternative I think.

And progress moves apace, now ready for paint.

Uhmmed and ahhhed about colour, as I was thinking of going a metallic version of the original cherry red, however have decided to stick with the original colour.

Soon be time to start thinking about building the engine for her, better get that garage sorted quick now!

paint on means you are on the home stretch ……….. doesn’t it !

Well, sorta..... just got to pay for all the mechanical bits and bolt it all back together, then there's the trim etc, which will look shabby against fresh new paint...... :ninja:

Cheers all, guess I can't really grumble too much as I do prefer the "do it once and do it right" philosophy of life, and as Colin rightly says the quality of the work is an investment in itself.

Well.......................

It means it much closer to coming home, if that counts

Cheers Nick, that's uplifting

On a more serious note, the mechanical side is halfway there already. Chic already has the new suspension and brakes waiting to be fitted, and he is also going to take care of glass and majority of the trim work, so that's one less job for me to muck up.

Engine is still awaiting movement, I have a core unit to strip down, need to order a cam and EFI electrickery along with bearings etc. Conrods and steel flywheel already purchased.

Gearbox needs overhauled, layshaft is noisy but otherwise good.

The seats need recovering (Alfa 156 fronts and rear) as they are beige currently, any other colour would be preferable! Also thinking to convert to heated seats whilst I'm at it (all thanks to recent post on here!!).

Carpets and soundproofing to sort. I need to approach some local companies to determine if it might not be better to have this done properly.

Re-wire, most likely from scratch as I wish to modernise it all. Figure by the time I add all the EFI requirements along with converting to modern fusebox with relays I don't gain very much trying to modify a standard loom.

Heater - I have a new core waiting, but am looking to fit a better blower fan.

Gauges to sort, probably get a new set that use GPS, there's too many average speed cameras around for my liking these days and the eventual aim is to make this car my daily again.

Ohh, and before all that happens I still need to finish off the garage!!

Consider the option of recolouring the original covers rather than recovering.

Yeah, sorry….. sounds like you are a bit further on with it than I thought….

BTW, I think you should think of a new name for it, she ain’t a shed no more…

Well, paint has been applied! And as to cost, @rogerguzzi your price for a bonnet would be preferable :whistling:

Let's just say, bare metal respray of etch primer, high build primer and colour has left a few VERY lonely pennies and not much else

Hello

But Spitty is having a Blow job compared to this(can we say blow job now?)

Still waiting to see what the Insurance Frauds say?

Did I tell you all this pair of Daft Buggers have booked the Ferry to Spain next year!(may as well think positive?)

We have done 3,920miles already this year in Spitty(She keeps us young ish??(and my old Mother used to say once you stop doing something you will not start it again!)

Very much so...

I've been thinking this myself for a wee while. Been putting it off however, as my grey matter hasn't been creative enough to think of a new name. Suggestions (not including blowjobs ) gratefully received.......

That is a very red and very shiny car.

And a very full shed.

And... that cylinder head sitting at a rakish angle on the carpet on the shelf above the drivers side waiting to slide off and smack the wing gives me the heeby jeebies :pinch:

How about 'The Crimson Cruiser'

Regattably, the shed isn't mine. In fact mine has not progressed at all yet, as I am still awaiting the digger guy to finish off the base prep.

The shed is one of Chic's at his farm. And believe me, that is probably only about 4% of what he actually has up there........
