James Posted November 22, 2012 Posted November 22, 2012 I have bought some useful little connectors to do the lighting in the garage. They're WAGO 222 connectors. It dawned on me they'll be dead useful for the car too. They're rated at: 400V / 4kV / 2 / 32A But what's safe to use with DC? They're pretty meaty. James
zetecspit Posted November 23, 2012 Posted November 23, 2012 "probably" 32A, but maybe keep it to 20? Really needs a leccy to explain why there is a difference between current carry of AC and DC. I really can't remember back to my A level physics, too long ago................( though it may be to do with arcing??)
spitfire6 Posted November 24, 2012 Posted November 24, 2012 Hi, WAGO are good connectors. If it says 32Amp@230 or 400V then they are good for 32Amp at 12Volts. In a nutshell: AC voltage is RMS and the same calculations can be used for DC.
