70herald Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 After a real long time of basically lurking I guess I should say hello and introduce myself. I am currently in the middle of what may be the slowest rebuild of a Herald 13/60 convertible. I bought it just over 7 years ago. I drove it home with crappy engine, basically no brakes (bad MC) and shockingly enough it passed test. Since then I have replaced and rebuilt the engine (the original block was already bored 0.06 over) So now I have a small crank 1300 also bored 0.06 over which we needed to get decent bores. I also needed a different head since there was a crack in the original so now I have a 1500 head which needed lots of machining to get up to a mere 1:8 at which point the machine shop refused to remove more (next time it comes off, I will get more removed) I also rebuilt the gearbox since it was also crap and now have a 4 syncro box. All of the chassis rubber was replaced mostly with either poly or hard carbon instead of the soft rubber. After lots of work, it finally is drivable but still needs lots of body work.
70herald Posted August 15, 2012 Author Posted August 15, 2012 Here is a picture on a quick trip to Ein Kerem just outside of Jerusalem. This is a funky artist colony and probably was a mistake since about 300 tourist mobbed me to get a picture of just about everything a few minutes after I took this picture.
Nick Jones Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 Welcome. That looks pretty good Where in the world are you - unfamiliar looking number plate! Cheers Nick

70herald Posted August 16, 2012 Author Posted August 16, 2012 Welcome. That looks pretty good Where in the world are you - unfamiliar looking number plate! Cheers Nick She looks much better in the pictures and a 50 feet than in real life! A paint job is definitely needed since paint is cracking and peeling. I am located in Jerusalem, Israel. Those plates look quite familiar to me, I see them every day! Not a huge number of Triumphs around here, I know of one Vitesse nearby and maybe 10-15 heralds around the country in drivable condition, a few spits, and a very small number of TRs.
