spitfire6 Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 Most intresting. I have LED brake & Tail lights. Not this brand & not this price. Enough said. Iain.
motov8id Posted July 26, 2012 Author Posted July 26, 2012 These are not individual lamps but a replacement for the stock lamp holders that redesigns the direction and intensity of the projected light . The individual lamps I've seen are $25 each x4=$100 these are $128 a pair so I don't see how price is a factor.
spitfire6 Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 (edited) Hi Motov8id, Apologies for the resurrection, Do you think that I am correct in thinking that this is a circuit board that is fitted in place of the plastic reflector, fixed via to small screws? I would guess that the tail/stop module has three 6.3mm male spade connectors and a different amount of the populated LED's are illuminated as I do not see any electronics to suggest PWM? I am wanting to make a pair of stop/tails myself, hence the questions. Cheers in advance, Iain. Edited December 6, 2012 by spitfire6
motov8id Posted December 7, 2012 Author Posted December 7, 2012 this definitely is a diy project. The triumph tail light and reflector are archaic. BMCs tail light has about 50 LEDs and probably draws less current than an incandescent bulb. I have seen motorcycle tail lights that incorporate the direction, half the light to the side you are turning flashes yellow with the red tail light on.back to all red when not turning. A different type directional flasher is used also.
spitfire6 Posted December 8, 2012 Posted December 8, 2012 (edited) Hi, Yes I am looking at making a pair for stop/tail lights. going to use Vero-board® for now until I find what type of LED's to use; to keep costs down I have found/ordered some high wattage (1 Watt or 10 Watt) LED's, maybe the way to go instead of multiple 0.03 Watt devices? have ordered some 1/4" PCB mounting spades for connections. Cheers. Edit: My high power LED's are not such a good idea due to the constant current requirements. emmm. Edited December 8, 2012 by spitfire6
