MissGT6 Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 Hi all! I'm Nicola, just bought my Mk.1 GT6 No stranger to classic cars as I run them everyday and have had everything from a Porsche 911 SC targa to a Midget 1500, so I suppose you could say I'm not fussy! This is my third Triumph, first being a 1976 TR7 and second being a 1977 Stag. Enough of me waffling on, heres a few pics of my GT6:
esxefi Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 welcome, and i must say a very fine looking example it is too.....is it black or very dark green?
motov8id Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 very well put together. I would like to see more of your seats.I prefer the Mk1 with the low front bumper. You can swap the dome light switch for a gauge because the metal behind it is stamped for a gauge freeing space for the radio. anyway well done.
AJ.Lintern Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 Very nice - is it very dark blue? I like blue cars
MissGT6 Posted April 5, 2012 Author Posted April 5, 2012 Thank you all Car is very dark blue but looks black / purple in some lights! A.J. - I've had a few 944s! It has been snowing in Derbyshire so I'll get pics of my seats at some point.
DaveNotSoSideways Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 Hello. Seats look perfect, nice and low to the floor and supportive.
Nick Jones Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 WOW! Best Mk1 I've ever seen....Welcome Careful! You'll upset Roy Welcome Nicola, that's a very nice looking car Nick
AJ.Lintern Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 A.J. - I've had a few 944s!A girl with good taste Unfortunately mine is in need of a lot of TLC at the moment as it has a fair bit of corrosion Currently working on the Spit as I have 2 weeks off - hope to have it MOT'd and back on the road before I return to work!
Royboy66 Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 Welcome fellow mk1 owner! colour looks Royal blue! That reg is familer! cant quite place it yet? Think I got a pic of mine next to it at a Triumph show at mallory few yrs ago! Very nice! any pics of engine bay? Oh, twist the fuel cap left 90deg ;-) :-)
MissGT6 Posted April 5, 2012 Author Posted April 5, 2012 Roy, if you have any pics of my car I'd love to see them I haven't done any more pics as of yet but will do some and put it up. It's all pretty standard under there apart from a chromed rocker cover and K&N's. Thanks re. the fuel cap Could you tell me if the front grille is correct? I have been told it may be incorrect but there's no parts for sale that I can find at the moment. Even Rimmers don't have Mk1 grilles in stock.
Royboy66 Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 I think original grill was 2 piece with chrome effect on horizontal fins. Your looks like mine 1 piece plastic. Rimmers sold them few yrs ago in black only. Good fit. I painted mine silver. Didnt look good with white car si its black again now. You may find a used mk1 grill on ebay etc.? The chrome rocker cover was standard fitment on mk1's :-) Sorry! Starting to sound like an Anorak! I best bugger orf to bed! !
GHR630 Posted April 6, 2012 Posted April 6, 2012 The mk1 grille is 2 piece aluminium with polished slats and matt black background. I'll grab me anorak.
MissGT6 Posted April 6, 2012 Author Posted April 6, 2012 Roy, sounds like we have the same grille. It is a good fit. Can't find any originals on ebay but will keep looking. Are there many Mk.1 spares that are scarce / can't buy new? Thought the chrome rocker cover was a mod so thanks for the info George, loving the Le Mans replica
MissGT6 Posted April 6, 2012 Author Posted April 6, 2012 Just had a look through your photo album, Roy, your white Mk.1 looks GORGEOUS Noticed the rad and the alternator conversion, what other mods you done?
JohnD Posted April 6, 2012 Posted April 6, 2012 Welcome, Ms.Nicola! Good choice, Triumph and even better the car. Plans for using it? John
MissGT6 Posted April 6, 2012 Author Posted April 6, 2012 John - practically using it everyday All my old cars are used a lot as the only cars I have are in my signature, not interested in modern stuff!
Royboy66 Posted April 6, 2012 Posted April 6, 2012 Thankyou! Other mods? Erm quite a few, from fitting a 2.5 & sunfoof to clear lense indicators & grease nipples on track rod ends....plus a few other things in between! Lol One of the best mods was to sell the wooden rimmed motolita steering wheel & fit a leather rimmed moutney (£15 ebay!) !! Feels so much nicer to drive (in my opinion!) :-)
esxefi Posted April 6, 2012 Posted April 6, 2012 One of the best mods was to sell the wooden rimmed motolita steering wheel & fit a leather rimmed moutney (£15 ebay!) !!Feels so much nicer to drive (in my opinion!) :-) agree with that,...i had a wooden s/wheel and my hands used to ache after an hour or so,now have a leather wheel and so much more comfy.
GHR630 Posted April 7, 2012 Posted April 7, 2012 Thankyou! Feels so much nicer to drive (in my opinion!) :-) Roy, Roy, Roy, you are supposed to wear string-back driving gloves with a wood-rimmed wheel, flat cap optional!
MissGT6 Posted April 7, 2012 Author Posted April 7, 2012 Steering wheels - I do have the original Mk.1 item in a box of bits, the wood rim was on the car when I bought it and I can't make my mind up what to do. Apart from the bits already mentioned mine seems to be as stock as a rock, still running the dynamo, even. Can't wait to get it tuned up on the 19th, though!!
Royboy66 Posted April 7, 2012 Posted April 7, 2012 Roy, Roy, Roy, you are supposed to wear string-back driving gloves with a wood-rimmed wheel, flat cap optional! oh ! Can I borrow yours then George? !
Millstone10 Posted April 12, 2012 Posted April 12, 2012 That's a very good looking vehicle. I'm really getting to like the Mk1 centre dash with all those switches I think I'm going to have to have a look for those on ebay...
