Decided to create one thread for a change rather than posting loads.

So here is the mean spit as it stands at the moment.

Fire extinguisher just fitted today, almost finished painting the roof, next project is to seal the insides of the panels with some dinatrol. Then webbers then i might drive it for a bit.

Would like ideally to get the front lower, but avo's are at the bottom of their travel, so will need to investigate ways, its about an inch high at the front.

Very nice. Have you got a picture of your seats?

Don't go too low on the front, from my experience with the 15" wheels... I was chewing my tires up.

PS, get some black matt paint Matt on the front spoiler. :)

In the spirit of darkness, I am surprised you don't have black (unipart) door mirrors - exactly the same as the ones you have now, but in black.

You could also blacken the door handles, bonnet latches and get a black steering wheel, then it would just about all be done!

Talking of low, here is a photo of my Herald back in the mid-1980's...low enough?

And the light surrounds.

nah i think you can go over the top with darkness, couple of bits will stay chrome, i would like black mirrors but cant buy them new (i asked)

Hmmm, I can understand the wieght issue if you want to use it for the track. But I think they can look a bit odd without the front bumper, too big of a gap.

Oh, and small black mirrors look cool.  ;D

This is the result of dumping the front bumper.  It works and I may do it on the yellow racer.

Left hander than a quick right after the flatout banking at California Speedway ;D

im not using the bumpers i dont like the look they give the car and i dont like the weight or the colour of them, so they wont be put on again (plus i sold them to pay for the fire extinguisher :D) I like the big hole in the front, only issue i have are the overriders but will sort that later.

Finally got round to doing some more work on the spit, had a new tyre replaced as the old one had a slow puncture in the sidewall (free of course). Discovered that the rear arches are rubbing slightly on the 205's, it only seems to be on full compression, think im gonna have to get the grinder out and grind away the inner lip of the arch. Strangley its only happening on one side.

Got the whole car finished cavity waxing, i have to say builthambers dynax s50 is awesome and easy, three cans and the whole can is done. Which then enabled me to fit all the rubber grommits to hopefully get the car as sealed as i can.

Last few things needing done now, still not got the ewp working to a stage im happy with, need to bolt the rear bumper supports inside the boot to the rear valance but struggling to find rubber bolt covers. I know they are available just cant find them.

Sorted my tow hook problem for the front, took a bmw one, cut it and welded it to a 5/8 bolt, super strong, custom made fits perfect. luvely.

For the rear im thinking of some carribenna device attached to the rear of the chassis on a cord but a) need to find a cord strong enough and B) need to find a way to keep it up out the way but easily accesible if needed.

Got the roof plans sorted after a long chat and examining all the different frames, the mk4/1500 frame just wont go past, there is too much going on in that space which fouls. MK3 is slightly better but still fouls a lot. So i then was stumped.

Until i started looking at the mk1, it seems to be perfect, i dont have space at the back for the roof to fold, and the mk1 hood lifts off. Im bassically gonna take the mk1 frame and put a 1500 front plate on it with a mk4 hood, should work a treat.

not many people know that the spit has a storage place in the boot for the mk1 hood frame.

Thought i'd post some pics.

After hardly driving the car this year, i have given up for the year, figure i might aswell crack on fixing a few bits and pieces and concentrate on getting it ready for next year in the hope we might have a summer.

Got these awesome wishbones from mike, should make a difference with a few more mods i am in the middle of to the suspension front and rear.

Got loads of rose joints and adapters lieing about to play about with try and get the car less understeary.

Still not happy with the rear wheel allignment, something is off, one wheel just doesnt look right, gonna put the car up high and measure from various places.

Also finish off the last few bits to make it race regulations complient, just in case i find the money to race it.

Need to get some new wheels first though, the mgf ones have died now have 2 slow punctures coming from the bead of the rim. Talking to revoloution at the moment to get a set of modular four spokes made up to the triumph pcd but much larger.

Whoop the weather lifted just enough to get some work done.

Finally got the new front suspension on the car, forgot to order lower wishbone bolts though so not completed.

Looks good though just need to touch up some of the newly modified bits.

im loving the por15 chassis coat it looks gorgeous and smooth.

Still rebuilding the bulkhead at the moment missing a few more bolts.

Also managed to play with my new toy, a sabre saw for the compressor, i have to say these things are the dogs bollex, awesome quick and simple.

Gave me the chance to finally get the old exhaust off and god i wish i did that ages ago, there must have been 2L of water in it, i had to leave it five minutes to drain.

Anyone want a twin phoenix system?

IMG_3187.JPG

The new exhaust is lining up better than i ever expected, by the looks of it now i only need a 20 to 30 degree bend and a straight tube, simple. (famous last words?)
