RallyRob Posted January 17, 2008 Posted January 17, 2008 Here, I'll do this properly. The names Rob Ruddick, born over there in London, and raised in Canada, and transplanted to the states 25 years ago.Now I live in Las Vegas Nv. My racing experience is mostly R/C based, although I've rallied a 1970 BMW 2002 back in the 70's, and tried my hand at sprint car dirt oval, and most recently got to drive a nascar stock car for 10 laps at the speedway. Glad to be here. 8)
DaveNotSoSideways Posted January 17, 2008 Posted January 17, 2008 Was the stock car setup in "oval" trim?
RallyRob Posted January 18, 2008 Author Posted January 18, 2008 Yes it was, even though it sounds a bit boring, (as I thought before I did it) it is quite a handfull. The way it was setup, was you had to follow a lead car and as long as you stayed within 3 car lengths, they'd take you as fast as you could go, up to a 140 mph limit, you knew you were close enough when the driver ahead would wave you off. I managed 6 out of 10 laps at or about 140. At that speed,it feels uncomfortably close at 3 lengths, and the wall coming out of turn 2 is 10 feet away but looks like inches. All in all great fun and very high on the exertion level, lots of G's, of course the faster you go, the better it sticks. so much the opposite is dirt track work, it's all about the drift...
