Ah well, if no one else is going to stand up and introduce themselves, then Hi! My name is Nick, and I have a Herald problem. Not enough, that's the problem!

Good morning from Las Vegas. My name is Rob and I've been hooked by the Spit bug for  years, I've had minis and a TR6 prior. I first heard of you, Dave by looking about on youtube and caught your videos.  My friend Steve Smith told me about CT a few months ago and now I've followed you here. Too bad about all that, but...well , life goes on as long as you keep growing. Your tech skills are top shelf, and thats all I care about.

We are all in this life for a short time, so lets live it up! Yee Haa., I've started a blog in case you want to check out my ride, ...still working on it atm, waiting on a cam.  http://www.spitfire-adventure.blogspot.com/        . anyway, thanks for all the good tech talk, and hope this flies well and true into the 21st century..

Hey Rob!

We have spoken before. You did some rollcage work for Steve yes? Life moves pretty fast, if you don't stop and look around once in a while, you might just miss it  8) Thanks for the kind words I'll keep an eye on your blog.

Hi all

Well, no reason not to introduce. I am Nick, danish triumphnutter. Bought my first triumph almost 8 years ago. It was my first car ever, bought with the first salary I made after uni. She was immediately named Jenny after a very lovely young american chinese girl with whom I had a fling decades ago when I lived in france.

What you could get for one months paycheck back then was not really good, and on top of that I knew absolutely nothing about cars. So I ended up with a complete basketcase. There was not really much rust, but that was mainly due to the fact that the car was 70% filler and chickenwire. I was able to drive it for 2 years as my daily drive commuting to work with no probs. Then the big bad MOT-man decided that I would have to get a new outrigger. I had the local garage welding in new outriggers, sill and rearwing, and could then go on for another 2 years.

At this time I realised that had been cheated twice. First by the previous owner (no rust my arse), and the again by the local garage who did not exactly do a nice job on rearwings and sills. This was a turningpoint in my triumphownership. I decided that if things should be done right, I had to do them myself. Now started a new chapter - I rented a garage with a mate and tore the car completely apart. The tub was sandblasted, and subsequently repaired. New rearvalance, bootlid, rearwing, sills, floors, doors and frontwings were needed. What did not had to be replaced all needed serious patching. This was all done in two years time with the good help of my mate who can work magic with a welder.

I outsourced the painting of the tub - I can stand painting . This just confirmed what I earlier said. If you want it done right - do it yourself!! Paintjob sucks, but doesnt really matter as she is going to be a driver, not a showpiece.

Engine has been replaced - old one was fine, but I got a good offer on a deserted engineresto. It was a Mk3 block with only 7K miles on it. Head had been worked, and all internals were balanced (incl clutch and flywheel which had been lightened). The engine were put together by a mate of mine who is obsessed with accuracy and cleanliness - one of the exeptions to the do it yourself rule. I have not yet had the chance to start the engine, but hopefully it will be started within a month. My mate has promised to get me some molybdenum to add to the oil in the wear in time. The gearbox has been replaced with an Mk4 OD gearbox which has been rebuild. My only regret on the rebuild is that I have not used NOS bearings.

The car is undergoing last assembly ATM, and I hope to MOT it for this spring. Latest update is that I have just bought a set of long driveshafts from Dave Sideways. So the rear suspension is being converted to swing spring. Oh, and the rest of suspension is AVO with 480 LBS springs.

Last year I bought a GT6 mk2 from the states, which will be my next project - no doubt you will hear more about that later on ;D

Have tried to upload pics, but no luck   ??)

Kind regards

Nick Blomberg

Flippin Eck Leon...You got trade deal on Carnuba Wax? ;D Thats a hell of a shine.

Got a bit of a soft spot for the RS Carrera in the back ground..if its genuine.

I was at Nurburgring once, I stayed by the side of the track WATCHING (which is rare for me) for ages cause some bloke was going round and round and round for about 1hr in a genuine RS...He was 4 wheel drifting it DOWNHILL like Ari Vatinen, pin point perfection each lap!

Hi Dave,

Photo taken at the All British Field Meet & Historic Racing, up at the Portland International Raceway last labor day weekend, (1st weekend in Sept each year)...2007 they were honoring Triumph as a marque.

Yeah, of course it's shiny, I'm a TSSC member, remember   ;D ;D ;D

Actually, I had just taken 1st in class, so was pretty happy...my good friend Rick had just taken 1st in class with his beautiful TR6 in the background.

I don't race my Vitesse for various reasons, but that doesn't mean that I don't use it.

(mainly as I cannot afford to break it!)

I usually drive about 750 miles over this weekend, not slowly.

As far as I am aware that Porsche in the background was indeed real, as a great number of very affluent older folks take their real racing cars along over the weekend. (yes, OK I salivated)...

Did you know that racecar is the same backwards or forwards?

The leather faced seats are from a breaker's yard 1977 Jaguar XJ6-II, with the wide band pattern, originally tan.

The leather covered headrests are from a Triumph 2000 and were originally mid-blue.

Best Regards

Léon

sorry I didn't post this photo in the right part of the forum Dave.

Leon,

I remember reading about the story and restoration many years ago in 'the courier'. The blood sweat and tears that went into this vehicle is remarkable, then to ship it half way across the world.

Nothing but admiration for you!

Wonder if it would be possible to have a section on the forum where people who have had there cars featured in magazines, if they wished, could scan the articles and add them for everyone else to read?
