Hi, just thought I'd introduce myself, my name is Andy Todd and I drive a 2.5L GT6 mk3. I've owned the car since 1994, the list of mods is as follows

2.5L engine

Chris Witor Vitesse cam with increased lift on inlet valves

Ported & polished head

SU HS6's

Standard exhaust manifold ( 6-2-1 manifold now redundant in shed )

Bell twin exhaust ( tempted to revert back to standard type )

Megajolt ignition ( just fitted and awaiting fine tuning )

Drilled front discs

Greenstuff pads

Stiffer front springs & Spax adjustables all round

I'm hoping this forum will provide some very interesting reading as there seems to be wealth of knowledge/experience here, I also hope I'll be able to contribute as well.

Hi Andy

Welcome ove rhere. I like the mods on your car - sounds very sensible. Why did you get rid of the 6-2-1?

Your car looks very tidy - nice   :) :)

Cheers

Hi Nick,

Thank you for the kind comments :), I replaced the 6-2-1 manifold as it seemed to make the engine a bit peaky, it seemed to be lacking in torque at lower speeds and then picked up above 4000rpm, not ideal as the 2.5 doesn't like to rev too much. With the standard manifold it feels like the low end torque is improved, and is generally nicer to drive.

Have to agree, useless thing! I was tuning some Vitesse with what felt like an awesome engine in it. It had torque no at all till 2700rpm, 2500cc, went mad at 4000rpm really quick, car was full of stereo and every bolt on accessory in the world, must have been 1.5 tonnes, so must have been 150HP. The Webers had small chokes so it should have had stack of low end. It wasn't mine so I bottled out at 6000rpm but it was gaining power. Felt that was all down the manifold as the rest of the signs were excellent.

6-3-1! Different business.

Another piece of Terrytune rubbish perchance?

Hi Dave

The forum is great, Megajolt definitely the way to go, I did consider the 123 Ignition also but decided the Megajolt would be best as it gives complete flexibility. Also having the trigger wheel installed means I am one step closer to efi, but these plans are a couple of years away yet.

Hi Debs,

6-2-1 manifold was from TSSC shop, looked very nice but no performance gain.

Thanks. Can't go wrong with the MJL....Loved mine, just the smooth edges rounded off and the driving and economy (42mpg motorway ~ from virtual race engine on Twin Dellortos with 300deg TH7 Cam). Engines felt so much more crisp and very tight ~ crank driven ignition not riding slack.

1-2-3 is good I hear, but only a few of the curves are any good, shame they haven't a facility to map the chip in those...

About time people stopped buying those 6-2-1 things! Information is KING!

Hi Andy ! Your Gt familiar! sure Ive seen it at an event/show before!!

I too binned the 6-2-1, and found the standard manifold better!

Still saving for 6-3-1! :'(

Im Getting interested in this Megajolting thing!

Is it worth it on a pretty standard set up though?? ( 2.5, Hs6's, 25-65-65-25 cam)

Have fun! Its Good ere!

See you at Stoneleigh??

Hey guys, for all of you binning your 6-2-1 extractors, I've got a friend over here in the US desperately looking for a set of ANY extractors for a customers car.  If you've got em spare give Joe a shout a JSiam1@earthlink .net.  He can't find anything reasonable in the US.  Steve

Hi Roy,

I like your mk1, you may have seen my car at Tatton Park if you attend that show, or Stafford. Megajolt has definitely smoothed out the idle on my car, only drove it for the first time today on MJ and that was just round the block with a safe map loaded. I am now waiting for my laptop to arrive so I can run the car and tweak the map but the genaral concensus seems to be that it is a very worthwhile mod. Can't make Stoneleigh this year :(.
