tomTR6Fan Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 Greetings. I live in Fort Myers, Florida about a 3 hour drive from Disney World. This seems like an active forum. I have owned my current TR6 (1973) for about 22 years and have maintained and upgarded it along the way. I look froward to conversing with you all. Cheers!
DaveNotSoSideways Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 Hey! What a BEAST! Slicks?! Do you need to use the brakes?! I think you'll be right at home here!

Mother Teresa Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 Pretty much standard then!?!? That's an impressive investment in time and money, how does the car handle as a package?
tomTR6Fan Posted December 22, 2008 Author Posted December 22, 2008 Over 20 years it doesn't seem such an investment. Anytime something broke, I upgraded it - much like any project car I guess. It was my daily driver for 18 or so years, then I had two kids. Now it's a weekend car. It handles very well. Just a touch of oversteer at high speed corner exit. It's set up for mid to high speed autocross courses. It's nice to beat those Miatas.
tomTR6Fan Posted December 23, 2008 Author Posted December 23, 2008 Regarding handling, here is a link to a video someone took of one of my practice runs at the Florida State Autocross Championships at Sebring Florida last month. http://mefeedia.com/entry/a-beautiful-fsp-tr6/12223006
Mr_GT6 Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 AAHHHHhhhhhhh Ft Myers Bought my fav pair of boots at the massive flea market there!
GT6Steve Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 Welcome aboard Tom, You've found without doubt the best Triumph performance resource on the web. You'll have to adapt to our cousins across the pond, a bit, cuz they tend to spell funny but other than that they're aces. Since you're about equidistant between them and us western folk you'll probably adapt quicker. The car looks good! It's been years since I autoXed. SP allows slicks? What's the class just above stock? I thought that was street prepared? Anyway, as I said I haven't AutoXed since about 1990 so I don't know what's current. OK, I just went and looked at all of my placgues and apparently the GT6 was winning in G stock and E stock in the day. So I guess I wouldn't know what SP allowed ;D ;D. I do recall I was careful with the mods because the next class was a slippery slope.
Royboy66 Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 Superfandango!! welcome Tom! Great video, sounds Mean as fcuk !! Nice Red Too! Roy 8)
tomTR6Fan Posted December 24, 2008 Author Posted December 24, 2008 Thanks for the warm welcome. Yall seem like nice folks. Regarding autocross, here most run SCCA rules and classifications. There's Stock, Street Prepared, Prepared and then Modified. I run with Hoosier A6 tires. They are technically street legal (DOT approved) but are really slicks with two small grooves around the tread.
gt5r Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 You'll have to adapt to our cousins across the pond, a bit, cuz they tend to spell funny. What do you mean smell funny Steve!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
